About the Role

We are looking for a VP of Engineering to architect and develop our early technology platform. In this role, you will manage the current engineering team and partner with product leadership to build our consumer-facing platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Shape the company’s overall technical strategy, architecture, and stack
  • Be hands-on in the coding and development of delightful consumer facing experiences that help our users understand and optimize their sleep.
  • Create a rich data layer around sleep, behavior, and motivations that supports everything from product strategy to UX to clinical outcomes
  • Support best-in-class e-commerce experiences that convert and retain customers of the business
  • Support native mobile app development as well as omni-channel (mobile web, SMS) delivery of app-like functionality
  • Define technical solutions with clarity on feasibility, timeline, and cost
  • Design a technical architecture that supports rapid product iteration and enables insights and data science
  • Guide both internal & distributed software development teams.  Manage vendors to success and smooth integration with our core platforms
  • Create a enviable technology culture and implement best practice coding methodologies and tools
  • Understand and implement best practices for data protection and privacy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years software development experience
  • 4+ years software architecture experience designing systems end-to-end, from data model to user interface
  • Prior experience building awesome consumer facing products
  • Past experience in small, high growth startup environments
  • Solid experience with cloud-based infrastructure and operations
  • Experience with JavaScript, including NodeJS and React (or similar) frameworks preferred
  • Deep experience with a relational and NoSQL data stores
  • Prior e-commerce experience (Shopify, subscriptions)
  • Previous healthcare technology experience helpful (health tracking, coaching, fitness, weight loss, nutrition, therapy)
  • MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Remote or NYC-area candidates
