Rokt is seeking a technical entry-level Accountant to join our growing team, based in New York. This position reports to the US/UK Accounting Manager.
The Accountant will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting for our US/UK entities, with some additional input into other markets and group responsibilities with your global finance colleagues. It is a hands-on role and requires the individual to be interested in being involved in all aspects of finance for a fast-paced start up. You must also have a natural sense of intellectual intrigue and desire to scope, research, and recommend best practice approaches to new finance challenges as they arise.
To be successful, you will need to be a self starter, who’s not afraid to ‘get their hands dirty’ and learn how to manage the finances of a growing company from the ground up - no task will be too small to generate a learning experience. Success will be achieved through getting up to speed with the day-to-day tasks assigned and exhibiting a keen interest in learning more. There is a clear development path within the Rokt Finance team for high performing individuals and you will be mentored by a team who are all certified accountants (CPA’ or CAs).
You recognize how to balance getting the details right while still moving fast. You must be a highly driven, energetic and focused individual that can work well with internal and external partners at all levels. You will be expected to problem solve, drive process improvements and exercise good business judgment in this role.
You’ll be a great candidate for this role if you love to be part of an extremely high performing team. International travel and domestic travel is a requirement in this role (aprox 5-10% of time).
Key responsibilities include:
- Respond to accounts related enquiries or requests and provide assistance
- Reconciliations - bank, credit card (internal) + credit card customer payments (external)
- Accounts receivable (debtors management and invoicing)
- Accounts payable (supplier invoices and payments)
- Payroll and expense claims
- Preparing journal entries
- Timely month and year end closing and reporting
- Supporting the team on US/UK tax compliance
- Credit control management
- Evaluate and improve areas of internal control weakness and inefficiency
- Ensure accounting records are maintained in accordance to IFRS/GAAP and all statutory requirements
- Liaise with auditors, tax agent, banker and corporate secretary
Requirements
You are:
- Proven: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; relevant prior experience in a technical financial reporting environment will be looked upon favorably. You should have either passed the CPA exam or be planning on completing this in the near future.
- Communicative: Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. You enjoy working with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams across different geographic locations. You keep others in the company informed and up to date on your priorities, current tasks and work completed. You are consistently looking for ways to improve yourself professionally and you encourage constructive criticism of your work.
- Strategic: You are a strong, analytical problem solver with a common sense and practical solutions orientation. You are well organised with strong time management skills. Ability to think ‘outside the box’ and be open to a fast paced, dynamic start-up environment.
- Dedicated: You are hardworking, keen to improve and take on challenges. High level of attention to detail.
You know:
- Proficiency with MS Office
- Experience with accounting systems
- Experience using G-Suite will be advantageous
