Role
Candid is hiring an Accounting Associate to drive the accuracy and timeliness of the financial reporting process. The role will provide a 360 degree accounting experience including, but not limited to, involvement in the financial statement close process, budget to actual analysis, US GAAP reporting, treasury management and much more. The Accounting Associate will play an integral part in building the financial foundation of the company. This role reports to our Accounting Manager in our NYC HQ.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations relating to corporate accounting areas (expenses, retail & equipment lease management, cash, PP&E, prepaid assets, debt, sales tax and others)
- Analyze monthly financial statements and report on variances versus prior month and budget
- Manage the monthly expense report process, ensuring submissions are timely, expenses are properly classified and accounts are accurately reconciled
- Perform daily treasury activities related to cash disbursements and receipts
- Prepare direct cost allocations to the business units, locations and departments for accurate reporting of expenses
- Assist in managing the relationship and deliverables for financial statement audits, including preparation of financial statements and related supporting documentation
- Assist in the preparation of technical accounting memorandums for distribution to the CFO, CEO and auditors
- Continuously challenge current practices and as the business evolves, implement operational and financial improvements in procedures, processes and systems
- Ad hoc reporting and other duties
What You’ll Need
- Minimum 2 years of accounting experience
- A fundamental understanding of accounting principles, practices, and standards
- Ability to learn, develop, and adjust priorities in a fast paced environment
- Ability to identify and implement process improvements in a rapid growing business
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in direct to consumer, emerging growth company, or other start-up environment is preferred but not required
