Role Objective
This role will involve Accounting responsibilities, such as month end close duties, assisting with the preparation of budgets/forecasts, and consolidation of financial reports. The Associate Accountant will report to the Controller. iCapital is looking for a self-motivated, energetic innovator to assist in the building out and maintenance of the accounting department of a rapidly growing firm and team. iCapital offers a challenging, fast paced environment with significant room for growth and development.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with month-end close process on a day-to-day basis including:
- Overseeing A/P and A/R functions relating to Broker Dealer and trail commissions
- Preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
- Preparing monthly reconciliations and allocation of expenses to Broker Dealer and Advisor legal entities in accordance with expense sharing agreements
- Assisting with the maintenance of all records and accounting files
- Assist in preparing monthly management and board financial packages including consolidation of financial statements, actual versus budget variance analysis and compilation of Company KPI reports
- Assisting in the calculation and recording of third party commissions in accordance with ASC 606
- Identifying and remediating process gaps and implementing effective internal controls; Improve documentation of internal control processes
- Liaising with external auditors, tax preparer and other 3rd party service providers/clients
- Assisting in completing special projects as needed such as implementation of new accounting software
Candidate Profile
- 4+ years of Corporate Accounting or Audit experience within the Financial Services industry. Broker Dealer experience would be helpful.
- Familiarity with NetSuite preferred
- Knowledge of booking journal entries and consolidation of financial statements required
- Degree in Accounting required
- CPA license preferred
- Highly proficient with Excel and Power Point
- Ability to manage large sets of data and be able to implement checks and balances
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Detailed oriented with big picture capability
