The Team
You will be the first Accounting hire, reporting to the Head of Finance and Operations and working collaboratively with the internal team as well as external tax, accounting, and credit-facility servicing providers. As with any startup role, you must be comfortable wearing multiple hats and pitching in if there is an opportunity to lend a hand. This role will be crucial in guiding Nowsta’s Leadership Team on strategic decisions and financing activities.
What You’ll Do
- Lead all aspects of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, expense management and budgeting - this includes
- Managing Nowsta's expense reporting process
- Reviewing vendor bills and accruing expenses appropriately
- Managing the transition of manual finance & accounting tasks to automated tools
- Take control and optimize the month-end close process – develop a strict close calendar and implement reliable accrual-based accounting to produce accurate and timely financial statements
- Review and maintain a general ledger structure in Quickbooks Online (QBO) that is GAAP compliant and appropriately aligned to the management reporting needs of the business
- Work closely with our credit facility to ensure accurate and timely reporting of assets and financing amounts
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis to inform business decisions and strategy
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation by introducing technology solutions and best practices – aid Finance and Operations in the identification and implementation of an ERP system
Requirements
- BA/BS in Accounting with 7+ years of experience in accounting
- Experience at a Big-4 accounting firm as well as in a staff accounting role at a startup
- Excellent knowledge of accounting procedures in accordance with US GAAP. CPA preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a self-proclaimed Excel wizard. Proficiency in PowerPoint a plus.
- Success in building, developing and leading impactful accounting organizations.
