The Finance team is responsible for preparing accurate financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and working with cross functional teams to manage financial risks and make our goals achievable. We work in a fast-paced environment with complex accounting challenges. In order to meet these challenges, we are constantly building new processes and improving existing ones. As a member of this team, the Accounting Manager is primarily responsible for managing the general ledger function, including the monthly financial close, consolidation and reporting, account reconciliation, interpretation and implementation of relevant regulatory accounting guidance, internal control environment, and process improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the monthly financial closing and reporting processes and provide timely and accurate financial information
  • Assist in development and implementation of new procedures to enhance various workflows and internal controls within the general ledger function
  • Manage the reporting and consolidation of Flatiron’s financial statements
  • Manage accounting for expense recognition and capitalization, fixed assets, and long-lived asset impairment
  • Oversee a team of two staff accountants which is expected to scale with the growth of the Company
  • Manage monthly journal entries and account reconciliation process, including identifying ways to improve teams efficiency, ensure quality and reduce time to close
  • Assist in budget and forecast process
  • Perform general ledger maintenance functions
  • Perform technical accounting research. Document, communicate and implement recommendations and conclusions
  • Provide accounting support and guidance to the individual business units as part of the monthly close process
  • Ad hoc analyses and projects as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required
  • Minimum 5 years experience with at least 3 years experience in Big Four or national public accounting firms
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and understanding of financial statement preparation and management reporting
  • Experience designing, implementing and maintaining a strong internal control environment
  • Excellent communication skills and highly collaborative, able to interact professionally with people at all levels of the organization
  • Self-starter who proactively takes ownership of issues and ensures timely resolution in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent technical abilities
