Accounting Manager/Controller
At Feather, our mission is to transform humanity's relationship with material goods to create a healthier and happier planet. You’ll join a fast-paced, innovative team whose passion lies in delighting customers and helping people live lighter.
You will be the first Accounting hire, reporting to the Head of Finance and working collaboratively with the internal team as well as external tax, accounting, and debt-facility servicing providers. As with any startup role, you must be comfortable wearing multiple hats and picking up the shovel if there is an opportunity to lend a hand. In particular, there will be clear opportunities to develop your skills in FP&A-related work as you show mastery of the accounting function. That said, the bulk of your day-to-day will entail the following:
What you’ll be doing:
- Manage information systematically in Intacct, working closely with vendors and staff, and designing new processes as our financial function grows.
- Own monthly close processes including
- Compiling monthly reporting for accrual and cash-based revenue
- Tracking and allocating expenses
- Tracking inventory data
- Work with external providers to ensure compliance with all applicable tax law, including federal and state income tax and sales and use tax.
- Manage the company’s expense reporting process
- Review vendor bills and accrue expenses appropriately
- Manage the transition of manual finance & accounting tasks to automated tools
- Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting packages to management
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
What you need to be successful:
- CPA certification
- 3+ years of experience (or 5+ years of experience, if you don't hold a CPA)
- Experience at a Big-4 accounting firm as well as in a staff accounting role at a startup
- Organized and thorough approach, with fine attention to detail
- Experience with accounting software and Excel
- Collaborative style with the ability to communicate clearly and precisely on technical and operational issues
- Ability to evaluate priorities and multi-task accordingly while keeping others apprised of status with respect to deadlines

- Eligible to work in the United States
