People Operations Team:

People Operations is responsible for building a foundation for all team members to grow and make an impact at Capital Rx. We lead the development and execution of all talent acquisition, employee experience, learning and development programs, payroll and benefits. The Payroll Manager supports our rapidly growing company and plays an integral role in continuing to scale our company, develop people programs, and enhancing people practices & culture.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the payroll function to ensure accurate, timely processing of employee payroll while adhering to multistate tax laws and federal law, including salary and hourly wages, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Accountable for the development of checks and balances in order to assure proper processing procedures, review payroll, as well as establish and enforce payroll best practices to be used company wide.
  • Ensure payroll expense is allocated accurately. Ensure tax and insurance compliance including determining payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer's social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments.
  • Driving procedure and systemic solutions to improve operation and our control environment.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
  • Oversee Paycom payroll function within the system and partner with business units and users to identify training and business operational needs and opportunities; captures business requirements and develops/designs system solutions.
  • Provide Internal Communication and external support to employees and vendors. Ensure that SLA’s are adhered to as it relates to the Payroll function. Demonstrate business acumen for collaborating with other departments and working with individuals at various levels throughout the organization.
  • Maintain proper documentation and knowledge to successfully respond and comply with federal and state labor audits.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate bachelor’s degree required in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or other related field.
  • 3+ years in managing payroll, preferably in a fast-growing environment, with experiencing performing multi-state payroll.
  • Certified Payroll Professionals preferred.
  • Experience with Payroll systems (Paycom Preferred) with the ability to interface and run payroll with third party in/out bound interfaces.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables, V-lookups, and complex formulas.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative to meet deadlines in a time-sensitive, fast-paced environment with great accuracy.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and strong communication skills towards building cross-functional partnership, while exercising the highest level of confidentiality when dealing with employee information.
