Great Jones is looking for an Accounting Manager with keen attention to detail who is looking to join a rapidly growing startup.  In this role, you will serve as a key member of the property management accounting team. One of the things that makes accounting and Great Jones unique is that it is also part of the product that we provide our customers.  We manage 50,000+ transactions a month across 6,000+ properties in the U.S.  The successful candidate will be able to operate in a fast-paced, high volume environment.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading and enhancing a variety of accounting processes that touch Great Jones, our customers, and their tenants.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Process improvements: as a manager, you will be expected to evaluate and enhance existing processes to optimize for the scale of a rapidly growing business
• Process controls: you’ll also be responsible for maintaining process accuracy and completeness through the implementation and oversight of control processes - raising and resolving exceptions where necessary
• Spot audit: in order to verify overall completeness, accuracy and recordkeeping, you'll be responsible to perform spot audits on different internal accounting processes, self-reporting and rectifying any shortfalls
• Corporate accounting: you'll help accumulate and prepare data for our own corporate books in tandem with our controller and CFO
• Troubleshooting/forensic accounting: tenants and property owners may have questions as it relates to invoices, bills, and statements.  This role will assist in solving these questions as well as understanding and remediating any process related shortfalls that may have led to the question itself
• Assist with special tasks and projects as requested
• Develop and retain top talent. Provide mentorship to support development of a high performing team

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

• B.S. in Accounting or equivalent
• CPA required
• 5+ years experience in a highly functioning accounting team
• Mastery of Microsoft Excel 
• Real Estate accounting and/or Property Management experience is preferable but not required
