Accounting Manager
The Role

We are seeking an Accounting Manager to join our growing Finance team! This individual will own the technical accounting function, as well as assist the Controller with month-end closing, the annual audit, and tax filings. In addition, this person will be a major contributor working cross functionally with other departments and partners both inside and outside the organization.
Our ideal candidate is detail-oriented and organized, and will thus have the opportunity to own and implement many processes across the Finance team as the company rapidly scales. Additionally, this is a new role, and would be perfect for someone who wants to make an immediate impact on Cedar’s financial functions, take ownership in regard to operating and improving processes, and continue to grow and expand their skill set with a high growth team.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting (P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow) and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual analytic schedules with detailed commentary explaining variances above predetermined thresholds
- Assist in leading the client billing process and manage accounts receivable with the accurate invoicing within standard policies reflective of company and client requirements, while assuring timely and accurate collections
- Meet with clients as required to discuss their questions, comments and address any action items
- Review accounts payable invoices into AP system, confirming G/L coding and investigating any discrepancies
- Meet with vendors to understand contract terms and discuss any issues
- Review workpapers, journal entries, reconciliations and other schedules in support of the general ledger balances and month end closing
- Prepare and review supporting schedules for financial statements, management and board reporting, the audit, and tax return and supplemental filings
- Understand and assist with the analysis of new accounting pronouncements, such as ASC606, ASC718, ASC340, etc., and prepare technical memos to evaluate the respective accounting impact
- Provide US GAAP suggestions and determinations for the proper accounting treatment of each financial statement line item
- Draft and update internal control processes, and develop standard methodologies by creating and communicating policies as well as documenting frameworks
- Assist with various projects for the Accounting Team and others impacting all of Cedar
- Meet with Cedar teams to discuss new rollouts and to draft memos to summarize
- Maintain a culture that adheres to Cedar’s values of focusing on our vision, using good judgement, staying positive, and disallowing mediocrity
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- 5-8 years of Audit or Accounting experience
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications; Excel is required (pivot tables, v-look ups, etc.)
- Big 4 audit experience is a plus but not required
- CPA license is preferred
- Knowledge of NetSuite ERP systems is a plus
- Highly organized and proactive with attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Cross collaborative - both internally across the organization and externally
