Job Description
MarketAxess is seeking a Compensation Accounting Associate. This newly created, dynamic and high-visibility position will support the Compensation Accounting Department with the administration and accounting for compensation transactions. Reporting into the Head of Compensation Accounting & Policy, this role will offer global support and interact with all levels of the firm including the CFO.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with monthly accounting entries for compensation, including payroll, equity compensation expense, and balance sheet activity for equity transactions
- Interact with UK Finance team to coordinate non-US compensation accounting entries
- Assist with earnings-per-share preparation including review of financial statement disclosure
- Provide support to external and internal auditors
- Responsibility for equity administration tasks to ensure accuracy and completeness of transactions
- Close coordination with HR to ensure all details necessary for accounting are captured
- Work with other members of Finance, including Payroll, Financial Reporting, Corporate Accounting and Tax to ensure completeness and accuracy of transactions
- Participate in process improvement projects
- Ad hoc requests, as needed
What You Bring to the Table
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 3-5 years of accounting experience (preferably with a Big 4 Start)
- CPA preferred
- Experience researching GAAP guidance to resolve accounting questions
- Controls mindset
- NetSuite experience is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with stakeholders across the Finance, HR and Legal
- Self-motivated and proactive, with strong attention to detail
- Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Strong proficiency using MS Office applications, especially Excel and Word
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Professionalism and ability to work with highly confidential data
