About the role

The Controller role at Teampay is a ‘front office’ function. Like other roles at growth-stage startups, you will oversee the accounting function, build a team, streamline accounting processes, set up internal controls, implement new software, and maintain existing systems. Since we sell Teampay to other controllers, this role will also get to speak on webinars, contribute to product development, and occasionally partner with pre-and post sales technical experts to help provide best practices to our customers. We are looking for a “controller’s controller” who is already respected amongst their peers and wants to continue to build their professional brand as a subject matter expert. Reporting directly to the COO, this role will also work closely with senior management to develop strategic financial plans.The ideal candidate has a background in accounting, strong communication skills, and is technologically savvy. What you will do

  • Supervise accounting operations, including general ledger functions, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
  • Establish robust internal control processes and financial reporting systems based on generally accepted accounting principles and regulatory requirements
  • Support the COO to develop budgets, forecasts, and other financial analysis for senior management, shareholders, and auditors
  • Build out, manage, and develop the accounting team
  • Lead the implementation of systems to streamline and automate accounting systems, such as selecting a new ERP
  • Stay updated with future legislation about tax and operations to ensure compliance
  • Track and manage cash flow and working capital
  • Engage and collaborate with non-finance staff to build relationships across business departments
  • Improve the process of collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data
  • Build and manage the relationship with external auditors to ensure compliance with auditing requirements and standards

Qualifications

  • SaaS accounting operations experience, including SaaS revenue recognition (ASC 606)
  • Technical knowledge of balance sheets and cash flow
  • Experience working with a fast-growing tech startup
  • Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP
  • Leadership skills with evidence of developing finance team members
  • Strong communication skills with a track record of communicating complex financial information
  • CPA, CMA, and bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in accounting preferred
