What you’ll do:

  • You will be responsible for Billie’s financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP policies, including the recording and reconciliation of all transactions, in addition to making end of period adjusting entries. Specifically you will:
  • Develop and implement a close calendar and SLAs on delivering financial statements timely after each close
  • Review and maintain a general ledger structure that is GAAP compliant and appropriately aligned to the management reporting needs of the business
  • Implement accrual-based accounting across the P&L
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation by leveraging technology solutions and/or implementing best practices
  • Prepare income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows for financial and management reporting
  • Run a formal close review process with business partners and management team; conduct period over period flux analysis and test for errors by analyzing actual vs. expected results in partnership with Finance
  • Proactively identify and address evolving needs of business as we scale including identification and implementation of a broader-scale accounting system and implementation and integration of inventory management software
  • Develop, maintain and enforce policies and procedures including expense and budget approval policies
  • Oversee invoice processing and accounts payable / accounts receivable
  • Partner with finance team on projects or analysis as needed
  • Support third-party audits
  • Work with external parties to ensure proper tax compliance and reporting for state sales tax, federal & state income and franchise taxes
  • Manage the relationship with our external accounting firm

What we're looking for:

  • BA/BS in accounting with 7+ years of experience in accounting
  • 3+ years of experience managing teams and/or operating in a leadership role
  • CPA a plus
  • Prior experience in e-commerce (start-up experience preferred)
  • Demonstrated business partnership and a high degree of business acumen
  • Experience with accounting processes and procedures and the design and implementation of accounting systems
  • Ability and comfort in rolling up your sleeves up and getting into the details, while also being able to think "big picture"
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working under pressure
  • A self-starter
