Director of Accounting
ActionIQ is looking for an expert, hands-on SaaS accounting leader to join our quickly scaling organization as our first in-house accounting hire. In partnering with the VP Finance and the broader executive team, this role would own all aspects of accounting and financial operations and define and drive processes relevant to each. The ideal candidate is excited to roll up his/her/their sleeves and build an accounting function from scratch in a fast-paced, category-defining startup and ‘get it right’ from the beginning.
One year from now you will have:
- Built out a clean, scalable and efficient month-end close process that provides internal visibility to financial performance
- Gained a nuanced understanding of the business to assist in thinking through proper accounting treatments of revenues as well as expenses
- Improved upon current accounts payable / receivable processes
- Advised leadership in complex accounting matters, including foreign currency, equity, leases and other accounting pronouncements
- Run review of historical financials to ensure cleanliness and GAAP compliance
- Built out internal controls
Responsibilities:
- Own all aspects of accounting, including managing month-end close, accounts payable and receivable, sales tax and annual audits
- Implementation of scalable processes and controls for financial reporting, cost efficiencies and compliance with US GAAP
- Management of the daily financial operations of the company, including treasury, corporate card and expense policy and T&E
- Collaborate with the executive team to support fundraising and strategic expansion initiatives
- Present monthly and quarterly results to senior management
- Run all external audit activities and audit preparation
Requirements
- Preference for 8+ years of experience in or proven deep understanding of public accounting, audit and similar functions; strong preference for prior experience in an accounting role at a startup
- Thorough knowledge of and experience with monthly close processes, with proven ability to consistently meet deadlines
- Ability to operate autonomously and work collaboratively as a team player with each of the department heads, particularly when fashioning process
- Meticulous attention to detail
- CPA required
