WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

The Trade Desk is seeking a Director of Corporate Finance & Development to join our FP&A team. Reporting into the SVP of FP&A, in this role you will lead the exploration of opportunities to augment our growth and technology stack by partnering with our Engineering, Product, Partnerships, Legal and Finance teams. You will play a key role in all parts of project and team management for corporate finance, deal sourcing and execution, strategic partnerships as well as working with internal teams to effectively deploy investment capital to help The Trade Desk grow its business. This role is a highly visible position that interacts with senior leaders and requires expertise in conducting industry research, valuation analyses, finance and operations due diligence, long-term strategic planning, and negotiating contracts, term sheets, and other agreements. You will own creating board-ready strategic presentations and recommendations and have the courage, business aptitude, and communication skills needed to advocate for good deals and to push back on questionable ideas. The ideal candidate will use their deep technological and finance experience to dive into emerging technologies and to build and lead cross-functional teams. 

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Develop strong relationships with senior leaders and be seen as a trusted advisor through expertise and effectiveness in corporate development, corporate finance, and business strategy.
  • Partner with various functional leaders to identify organic and inorganic growth opportunities.
  • Own financial analyses that help The Trade Desk determine the benefits and pitfalls inherent in using corporate debt instruments at various stages of company growth.
  • Evaluate the opportunities and risks in potential M&A transactions and investments and lead due diligence efforts.
  • Articulate impact of all posed transactions on The Trade Desk’s five-year operating plan.
  • Provide leaders with the insight needed to drive intelligent, sound decision-making.
  • Build investment theses and communicate findings in board-ready presentations.
  • Lead cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Operations, Legal, Finance, Tax, Accounting, and senior management to execute transactions from term sheet through integration.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on valuation and deal structuring.
  • Determine vision, strategy and direction of broader Corporate Finance and Development team; contribute to processes, tools, best practices, and training.
  • Lead global team of analysts, associates, and managers through career progression and development opportunities.
  • Own additional strategic analyses and implementations as necessary.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • MBA, Masters degree, JD, or equivalent work experience.
  • 12+ years working in corporate development, private equity, venture capital, or investment banking in the technology industry (including at least 4 years of in-house corporate development at a public technology company).
  • Experience managing teams of global Corporate Finance & Development professionals.
  • Proven experience in identifying, sourcing and executing on M&A and Corporate Finance transactions.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate financial and legal deal terms.
  • Extremely strong written and oral presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively across a range of stakeholders.
  • Advanced quantitative ability with experience in financial modeling and strategic analysis required.
  • Ability to thrive in a company and industry that constantly evolves.
  • Super organized, process oriented, in addition to a relationship builder
  • Self-starter that is also humble
