As the Director, SEC Reporting, you'll play a key role in helping us establish a financial reporting process for our public company readiness initiative. The Director, SEC Reporting is a very hands-on leadership role responsible for the preparation of internal and external financial reporting documents and related filings. The Director reports to the VP, Global Controller and works collaboratively with other functional areas and external advisors to provide guidance and leadership to ensure the adequacy and accuracy of financial information and disclosures. The successful candidate needs to have deep expertise in U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements. In addition, the candidate for this role must have a passion for innovation and improvement in processes as well as great attention to detail without losing sight of the big picture.
What you'll do
- Lead Company's future SEC reporting function owning the preparation and filing of required documents, including footnotes, MD&A, and XBRL tagging
- Prepare periodic reporting as necessary to comply with bank covenants and/or other external requirements
- Work cross-functionally across the Company to collect information and input into reporting requirements; coordinate, review and collect comments on the various drafts; prepare support files; challenge the appropriateness of disclosures; complete all relevant disclosure checklists and reporting questionnaires
- Drive the quarterly drafting and review cycle including the quarterly disclosure committee meetings and meetings with the leaders of the business functions
- Coordinate with external auditors on financial reporting requirements for quarterly reviews and annual audit
- Coordinate the completion of, and maintain supporting documentation for, all areas of external reporting as well as the preparation of GAAP and SEC checklists
- Assist with the preparation of financial materials used in presentations to the Audit Committee, Board of Directors and Senior Management
- Assist in managing internal controls and support SOX compliance efforts
- Lead continuous process improvement initiatives that enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting and internal controls
- Assist with month-end close activities and the monthly financial package
- Be a great business partner; establish and maintain excellent relationships within the team, external auditors, and with leaders across the business
- Participate in or manage system implementation and other special projects and other accounting and finance responsibilities as required
What you have
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
- 10+ years of combined Big 4 public accounting and public company experience
- Strong and extensive knowledge of US GAAP and SEC Reporting requirements
- Prior experience leading SEC reporting at a public company
- Experience with SOX and internal controls related to financial reporting
- Experience with NetSuite and Workiva a plus
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the proven ability to present and explain complex information and suggest process improvements to diverse audiences including senior leadership
- Strong project management and organization skills, including the ability to multi-task and prioritize various work streams simultaneously and proven ability to meet tight timelines
- Ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships with peers, senior leadership and all levels of the organization, with a positive and professional image
