ABOUT THE TEAM AND ROLE

theSkimm is looking for a Finance Editor. You'll be responsible for brainstorming, editing, and fact checking financial news and evergreen content at theSkimm. The Editor will report to the Senior Finance Editor.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Edit a consistent output of financial content – from explainers on how the news affects your wallet to evergreen guides – written in the format and tone of theSkimm
  • Translate financial jargon and break down complex financial topics using theSkimm’s unique voice and editorial approach
  • Curate and package the most important financial news affecting millennial women into a weekly newsletter
  • Project-manage daily, weekly, and monthly financial content initiatives across multiple platforms 
  • Work with the news, video, audio, and social teams to maintain a cohesive voice for financial content across all Skimm platforms
  • Collaborate with the marketing and product teams on Skimm Money, our new personal finance product that helps you prioritize and save for all your money goals
  • Look for new ways to deliver engaging finance content for millennial women

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • 4-5+ years experience in financial writing or editing
  • Strong journalistic judgment with a specific eye for fact-checking standards
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment, with an ability to anticipate and respond quickly to change
  • Experience crafting promotional packaging for content (think: email plugs, social posts, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of financial markets, investing, and personal finance
  • Ability to self-motivate and be a team player across multiple departments
  • Ability to write in the voice of a character
  • Passionate about theSkimm and its mission
  • Bachelor's Degree
