The Financial Analyst will work with the executive stakeholders on projects that span across Finance, Product, Operations, and other functional business groups. This person will work as a liaison among stakeholders in order to understand the structure, policies, and operations of a division, to devise models that illuminate areas for growth, and to recommend solutions that enable the company to achieve its product development goals and financial targets. The ideal candidate takes pride in producing accurate work on time and taking initiative to solve difficult business problems, with the ability to communicate with a diverse set of key partners.

Responsibilities of the Financial Analyst:

  • Budget and financial management: Support the VP, FP&A, GM's and other business leads in their evaluation and management of financial performance. Be an expert in the finance and business systems through which our company transacts and records financial performance, including: Salesforce, NetSuite/Intacct, Tableau. Work with departmental stakeholders to understand their goals and illuminate trends and correlations between staffing, project based spending, COGS etc - and outcomes in their respective P&L. During annual budget creation, assist department and division managers in the creation of their budgets. At regular intervals, support evaluation and management of performance against budget, and support re-forecasting exercises as needed.


  • Process improvement and development: Evaluate unique business challenges (e.g. demand planning, back-order risk management, product performance and new investment strategy). Propose methods and models for studying business challenges, including defining and organizing data sets, and guiding stakeholders in interpretation and decision making.


  • Inter-departmental coordination: Work with business managers to identify weaknesses and gaps in data, documentation, and process between departments. Define and propose communication and system improvements based on known business challenges, trends in performance, and targeted outcomes. Work with stakeholders to monitor and evaluate the efficacy of solutions and iterate until desired outcomes are achieved.


Basic Qualifications of the Financial Analyst:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • 3+ years of financial analysis experience in a corporate Finance, FP&A or Accounting department
  • Project Management and Budgeting experience
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets
  • Ability to analyze complex business problems through the analysis of data and the creation of spreadsheets.
  • Ability to present analyses and potential solutions to management
  • Ability to utilize systems functionality, extract and manipulate data to support reporting and planning processes.


Preferred Qualifications of the Financial Analyst:

  • Education, Technology or Publishing industry experience
  • Modeling experience
