Position Summary: MLB Network seeks a Financial Analyst with strong knowledge of Production Finance/Accounting to support the Director of Finance in financial analysis and the preparation of budgets and forecasts for the MLB Network. This person must be able to work effectively in a very fast-paced and dynamic environment. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of the Company’s budgeting, financial planning and other administrative functions.
  • Assist in monthly closings and financial reporting.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for internal management purposes and general partners.
  • Conduct reporting and analysis that reviews performance based on combining financial and operating metrics to provide Company management with information to assist operational analysis and decision making.
  • Assist in the forecasting process to provide timely, accurate, and credible updated business plans to general partners. Prepare special reporting requirements as requested.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual operating budget and business plan for presentation to Company’s senior Management.
  • Coordinate with Scheduling departments to analyze Studio Labor and headcount needs.
  • Other such duties as required.

 It is expected that the Financial Analyst will maintain and increase knowledge in the Finance discipline as well as the business on an ongoing basis. 


Skills & Experience: The ideal candidate must have most if not all of the following skills and experiences:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of financial analysis experience or related business experience is required.
  • Experience in the television production (including scheduling of production labor) or related video production industries is preferred.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals at remote locations including the MLB Office of the Commissioner and MLB Advanced Media.
  • Be extremely organized, demonstrate initiative and an ability to complete multiple assignments in a timely manner
  • Individual must work well in a dynamic environment and be able to recommend and implement process improvements, work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • The ability to effectively take on leadership roles in various functions is required. 
  • Have advanced knowledge and experience with MS Excel and other financial reporting systems. Experience with Board and Oracle financial reporting system is preferred.
  • Demonstrate the tact, diplomacy, decisiveness, and superior people skills required in the pressurized environment of live television.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule as required.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Possess the manual dexterity needed to effectively create required work product.
  • Possess the visual acuity needed to effectively create required work product.
  • Possess the auditory acuity needed to effectively create required work product.


Education:  Bachelors degree is required; Finance or Accounting major is highly preferred.
