Position Overview

The Financial Controller will support all aspects of financial planning and analysis (including budgeting, forecasting and reporting), accounting, controllership, treasury and business development initiatives. S/He will work directly with the company’s senior management to oversee the day-today financial administration of the company and its financial performance. The Financial Controller will also work closely with the CEO to prepare investor and bank presentations, short and long term plans, internal audits and other ad-hoc analyses to support the financial growth of the business. Essential Functions 

  • Manage all aspects of finance, accounting, controllership, tax, audits and analysis, bookkeeping, payroll, benefits administration and policies, and certain areas of business development. 
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of accurate annual budgets, quarterly forecasts and weekly flash reports
  • Perform detailed and complex financial analysis for senior management, including, but not limited to: 3 statement financial models, capital allocations, competitive analysis, market sizing, budget/forecast evaluations
  • Direct financial planning and analyses processes for the organization. Oversee short and long-term financial and managerial reporting and pricing decisions. 
  • Proactively drive countermeasures for projected variances.  Lead risks/ops process to provide operations leadership with actionable financial information necessary to mitigate variances
  • Lead cost improvement initiatives as it relates to Overheads, SG&A and R&D
  • Gather data and prepare presentations for various conferences, including Board of Director meetings and Sr. Sales and Operations Leadership Meetings
  • Look for areas to improve the financial performance of the company to drive efficiencies and cost savings
  • Manage bookkeeping, including accounting systems and procedures ensuring their coverage of billings, receipts and the recording of all revenue transactions
  • Coordinates tax planning and filing efforts with external accounting firm

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree required, major in accounting strongly preferred and a minimum of 4 years progressive finance experience
  • CPA, CMA or MBA strongly preferred
  • Prior experience in working in the following sectors is preferred: finance/accounting/investment banking
  • Experience in investor relations, strong interpersonal skills and ability to think strategically
  • Advanced quantitative and analytical skills including valuation, financial modeling and analysis
  • Three + years of finance leadership experience in a rapidly growing, lean environment
  • Experience managing external vendors
  • Excellent analytical, project management and problem solving abilities with a keen eye for detail
  • Competency in financial modeling, fluency in Quickbooks and Microsoft Office programs – specifically Excel
  • Sound knowledge of U.S. GAAP and generally accepted auditing standards, such as revenue recognition and accrual rules
  • Capacity to identify accounting policies and procedures to improve internal controls
  • Willing to learn HR expertise and take on these responsibilities.
