FP&A Manager
ActionIQ is looking for an ambitious, clear-thinking candidate to be the company’s first FP&A hire. Partnering closely with the CEO, VP Finance and the rest of the executive team, this role would be key in driving strategic initiatives at the company, including decisions around growth, fundraising, international expansion and areas of investment. The ideal candidate is excited to work at a fast-paced, category-creating startup and to really have an impact on the organization through his/her/their work.
One year from now you will have:
- Built out a robust budgeting & forecasting process that provides internal visibility to internal stakeholders and the board of directors.
- Gained a nuanced understanding of various parts of the business and understand how they operate and are interconnected.
- Reimagined the company forecast model to be used as a centerpiece in conversations around key strategic decisions.
- Defined key core SaaS metrics in a way that is tailored to AIQ’s business and set up a process for ongoing calculation and visibility here.
Responsibilities:
- Manage, build out and iterate on the company forecast model to ensure it is operationally relevant; look through and interpret model findings to be able to signal areas of risk or opportunity in the organization.
- Own and manage all aspects of the monthly budgeting / forecasting process, including providing visibility to each of the members of the executive team along with actionable insights / recommendations.
- Partner with each of the members of the executive team to understand their department’s needs and operate as their quantitative arm in either building out and maintaining dashboards or through ad hoc analyses.
- Provide regular visibility to the executive team and broader organization on performance according to key metrics and lead discussions on how they may be improved or maintained.
- Lead the effort in selecting and implementing a Business Intelligence tool to facilitate near-real-time visibility internally around KPIs.
- Prepare materials for quarterly board meetings and quarterly investor reporting.
Requirements
- Excellent business judgment and understanding; ability to translate model findings into something relevant and actionable for the broader organization.
- ‘Thinking in spreadsheets’ is second nature; comfortable starting with a blank sheet and building out a full financial model.
- Ability to reimagine forecasts and challenge / rethink prior assumptions; comfort with deleting and rebuilding existing spreadsheets when a better solution has been thought through.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to operate autonomously and work collaboratively as a team player with each of the department heads.
- 6+ years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance or investment banking; preference for prior experience in an FP&A role at a startup.
