The Role:
LeafLink is looking for a Global Controller to join our growing team in New York, reporting directly to the VP of Finance. This critical role will be the first full-time accounting hire and will be responsible for developing and building the accounting function as the business continues to scale rapidly. The Global Controller will research, develop, implement, and enforce accounting policies and procedures across each of LeafLink’s business lines, including the SaaS marketplace, LeafLink Financial, LeafLink Distribution, and others. This role is for self-starters and entrepreneurial-minded individuals who have a strong technical background and a sharp focus on execution.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation of new ERP for company, including ownership of Chart of Accounts, legal entity structure mapping, and bank accounts
- Develop, maintain and enforce accounting policies and procedures
- Lead and continue to build a world-class team of accounting professionals focused on accuracy, efficiency, scale, and cross-functional partnerships
- Lead ASC 606 Revenue from contracts with customers implementation
- Work with external accounting firms to prepare and file federal, state, and local taxes
- Establish and oversee monthly close process to issue timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
- Oversee international reporting as LeafLink expands to Canada, Europe and beyond, including consolidation and multi-currency reporting
- Build and manage relationships with external accounting firms, providing detailed and accurate deliverables and supporting workpapers in a timely manner
- Prepare US GAAP financial statements and lead financial statement review by independent accounting firm
- Manage global payroll and employee benefits alongside VP of People and operations team
- Identify opportunities and implement best practices for continuous improvement, such as automation and other technology solutions
Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Accounting with 7+ years combined experienced between Big 4 and controller for SaaS and/or FinTech company
- Active CPA license
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, proactively identify current and future regulations applicable for existing and future business activities of LeafLink under both US GAAP and IFRS
- Ability to navigate across multiple teams with multiple business owners and able to create a culture of collaboration between accounting and other stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience establishing internal controls at a small company or startup environment
- Strong ERP experience and history of managing accounting teams, MS Dynamics experience a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Sense of urgency and an ability to multitask
