The Inventory Accounting Manager will join a fast-paced startup environment with a rapidly growing finance and accounting team. Reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager, you’ll work closely with the Operations team to continue our inventory systems implementation and to lead the charge on our inventory processes. You will also play a key role in our monthly close process, and be responsible for managing and reviewing key inputs to our gross margin.
What You'll Do:
- Manage and review inventory & COGS activities during the month-end close, including calculating inventory reserves and performing subledger and balance sheet reconciliations
- Review day-to-day inventory activity, including purchase orders, transfer orders, and inventory transfers by location, and partner with the Supply Chain team on reconciling inventory regularly
- Continuing the implementation of Netsuite’s Inventory Management System and leading the charge on future inventory management ERP processes
- Partner with the Supply Chain team on technology and process improvements, as well as new control development around the inventory lifecycle
- Conduct annual physical inventory counts in partnership with the Supply Chain team
- Ensure reporting and transactions are in adherence with US GAAP
- Prepare technical memos regarding inventory accounting policies
- Assist in annual audits, taxes, and other aspects of compliance
- Ad hoc analysis/ projects
What You'll Bring to the Team:
- Undergraduate degree in accounting with 4+ years progressive experience, CPA required
- Advanced Excel and data management skills (e.g., pivot tables, V-lookups, index/match functions)
- Understanding of inventory management and experience with inventory accounting and systems
- Strong understanding of financial statement reporting
- Strong understanding of theory and practical application of U.S. GAAP
- Comfortable in a start-up environment; must have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and maintain deadlines
- Strong attention to detail
- Well organized, able to communicate effectively cross-functionally as well as within our team
