Job Description

We are seeking a Finance Manager to help manage digital and technology finances at MSK as we expand our digital capabilities. Situated within the Digital Informatics and Technology Solutions (DigITs) division you will be responsible for both internal divisional financial activities as well as tracking and reporting on IT spend outside of the division. You will!

  • Responsible for working with personnel throughout Memorial Sloan Kettering to budget and track IT program and project spending.
  • Act as a knowledge resource to guide appropriate budgeting of IT projects, ensure necessary information is captured, and prepare YOY baseline analysis of programs and projects.
  • Lead monthly financial review with all DigITs managers and obtain all related spend and forecast information.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual divisional spend against budgets to identify problems, trends, and issues that require further review.
  • Responsible for cost analysis of IT products and services and providing recommendations on cost optimization opportunities.
  • Participate in system rationalization initiatives by providing cost breakdown for existing solutions.
  • Assist in developing IT finance training material, lead training sessions and educate DigITs managers on budget, forecast, and finance related topics.
  • Responsible for managing and coordinating resources to further improve the financial dashboard built on Tableau, as well as automating the current manual budgeting and cost tracking activities.
  • Assist in annual budget planning and preparation activities.

You are!

  • Currently working as a financial manager or have relevant experience with financial management and analysis.
  • Great at working with financial data, budgets, reports, and analysis tools.
  • Independent worker who can prioritize work to meet established quarterly objectives and deadlines.
  • Highly detail and analytical thinker with an ability to conduct research, data analysis, and resolve complex problems with creativity and innovation in mind.
  • Familiar with or eager to learn new visualization and data analytic tools and techniques.
  • A great teammate with the ability able to build relationships and communicate effectively at all levels throughout MSK.
  • A Microsoft Excel expert

You have!

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting or 8+ years minimum experience within accounting or financial management in lieu of a degree.
  • 6+ years of related experience in financial management
  • Experience with cost accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting.
  • Experience with IT costs and services performance analysis preferred but not required.
  • Significant experience with Microsoft Excel including working with advanced functions. Coding and writing macros not required.
  • Strong technical skillset, time management, multitasking, and organizational skills required.
  • Experience with data warehouse querying and data visualization tools such as Tableau, Cognos, or others is preferred.
