We are building a Controllership dream, and are on the hunt for a motivated, tech-savvy, and analytical Accounting Manager. You will play a key role at Noom, reporting to our Corporate Controller.


We are experiencing rapid growth, and this manager position will have exposure to the entire leadership team . You will help us operate like a public company and collaborate across functional teams such as Legal, Operations, Coaching, HR, Engineering, and Leadership groups.  


What You’ll be doing 

  • Ownership of full-cycle general ledger financial close process and related activities, to ensure complete and accurate financials in accordance with U.S. GAAP, including managing/reviewing close activities such as journal entries and account reconciliations within the established close timeline
  • Own one of the major financial statement reports (e.g.: Statement of Cash Flow) and assist with quarterly financial reporting and footnote disclosures
  • Review monthly journal entries and reconciliations for areas
  • Perform analytical review procedures on significant changes period over period, YoY, MtM, etc
  • Assist in the preparation of management reporting and comments, investor files, and decks
  • Work closely with partners in the business, Finance, and IT and strive to improve processes through automation
  • Manage auditors and consultant requests 
  • As a people manager, provide support to your team members and invest in their growth and success
  • Assist in documentation/implementation of internal controls and ensure SOX compliance in areas of responsibility
  • If needed, manage and own the implementation of new tools or softwares
  • Drive process improvement and automation efforts to streamline Accounting operations and improve the quality of monthly, quarterly, and annual closes, and internal controls

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics or relevant field. CPA or equivalent credentials required
  • 6-7+ years of accounting experience, with a minimum of 1 year of management experience and ideally 2 years of experience in relevant industry: public companies or hyper-growth startups. Big 4 experience is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SOX, and SEC reporting requirements
  • Experience preparing and maintaining internal controls for SOX compliance
  • Strong knowledge of accounting reporting systems, PTP softwares, and other accounting automation technology.  Knowledge of NetSuite and Adaptive is a plus
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Google Suite required
  • Bilingual in Japanese and / or Korean is a plus
  • Ability to prioritize and execute on multiple tasks while adhering to strict deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly-changing environment
  • Experience building and managing a team
  • Self-motivated and ability to self-manage - able to think independently, creatively, and opportunistically 
  • Sharp business acumen and process-oriented
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Fast learner and data-savvy
