The Role


Veeva is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Payroll Accounting Analyst to join our team. This position will have full responsibility for Canadian and U.S. payroll processing and partner with a cross-functional team of Payroll, Finance/Accounting, Tax, Equity, and HR professionals. This role will also be responsible for recording payroll journal entries, analyzing, researching, and resolving payroll reconciling differences, recording adjusting entries, and collaborate with others on key processes and policies to perform recurring controls in compliance with our SOX requirement. A successful candidate must have the ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving environment and views customer success as the number one priority. This is a remote position and will report to the Senior Payroll Manager.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with the Accounting and Employee Success teams to maintain accurate payroll information by collecting, verifying with the system of record, and processing payroll through ADP Workforce Now
  • Process biweekly, semi-monthly and equity-related payrolls for our North America operations
  • Record payroll entries to the general ledger and reconcile related accounts for month-end close. Resolve questions timely and accurately
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries or concerns and provide accurate payroll information for employees and management
  • Coordinate tracking of vacation and PTO hours for certain employees
  • Maintain payroll operations in accordance with documented SOX processes and company policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines
  • Provide reports that are needed for updating payroll using ADP, HR, and benefits systems
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and protect payroll data
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements or automation
  • Support the Payroll and Finance team in completing special projects and other tasks as needed

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of ADP Workforce Now and hands-on experience in the end-to-end payroll process
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in payroll processing, time reporting, equity. payroll processing, and other HR/payroll systems, processes, regulations, and policies
  • Advanced skills using Excel, data manipulation, and analysis
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance, Human Resources or a related field, CPP or equivalent relevant job experience
  • Experience with multi-state payrolls
  • Experience with accounting entries required for recording payroll activities
  • Ability to meet deadlines as necessary and work additional hours as required
  • Excellent problem solving along with written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and passion for the quality and accuracy of payroll

  • Experience with U.S. and Canada payroll laws and regulations
