Senior Accountant
The Role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join us in our mission. This role will be responsible for period-end closing procedures, preparation of financial statements and general ledger reconciliations, such as ensuring workpapers are completed accurately and timely, and will be a key contributor to the year-end audit and any technical accounting matters that arise. This role will also have cross-functional responsibilities with other departments and partners both inside and outside of the organization.
Our ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized and open to share thoughts to implement or enhance processes across the Accounting function. This is a new role that would be perfect for someone who is confident, attentive, enthusiastic and eager to take ownership and make immediate impact within Cedar’s Accounting function.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate and complete period-end closing procedures, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting (P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow)
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual analytic schedules with detailed commentary explaining variances above predetermined thresholds
- Review workpapers, journal entries, reconciliations and other supporting schedules
- Assist in the review of customer agreements and provide updates to the revenue recognition in accordance with US GAAP, ASC 606, etc.
- Prepare and enhance the company’s narratives for key business processes and procedures, as well as internal controls
- Enhance documentation over established accounting policies and best practices.
- Stay current of new accounting pronouncements and assist to evaluate any potential impact on Cedar’s financial statements
- Prepare and/or update technical memos on accounting standards adopted and implemented
- Assist the AR and AP teams with client billing and vendor invoices processing responsibilities as needed
- Fulfill external auditor requests during different times of the year
- Provide training to new and existing staff as needed
- Participate in special projects as determined by senior management
- Perform all other duties as assigned and required

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- 3-5 years of Audit or Accounting experience
- Big 4 audit experience is a plus but not required
- CPA or CPA candidate is preferred
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups
- Highly organized and proactive with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple projects and manager resources
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications (MS Excel and MS Word is required)
- Knowledge of NetSuite ERP systems is a plus
