Senior Accounting Associate

Compass is looking for an exceptional Senior Accounting Associate to play a key role in developing a world class Accounting department based in New York City. The primary focus of the position will be overseeing accounting matters as it relates to the Company’s acquisition and expansion efforts. Additional responsibilities include establishing the Company’s consolidation processes and performing analyses of our results against the annual operating plan, along with preparing ad-hoc analytical reports, and leading business-critical special projects.
At Compass You Will:
- Collaborate on developing the long-term plans and strategic goals for the Accounting department
- Support financial modeling of acquisitions to determine the impact on financial results and cash flows
- Assist in the financial due diligence process, including coordinating with corporate departments and communicating information and insights to management
- Develop plans and processes for recording acquired company financials, opening balance sheet, and acquisition-specific financial records
- Assist with accounting team integration of acquired company accounting processes
- Assist in the development of a Company-wide consolidations process
- Prepare consolidating entries as needed, including profit eliminations between consolidated subsidiaries and unconsolidated investees
- Assist with monthly consolidations process
- Prepare and review account analyses and reconciliations
- Lead technical accounting research for various areas and publish internal memos on key accounting policies
- Assist with balance sheet and income statement analytical reviews
- Assist with development, review and analysis of the Annual Operating Plan
- Assist in development and enforcement of internal control policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
What We Are Looking For:
- At least 5 years of experience, with a minimum 3 years at a Big 4 public accounting firm
- CPA required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- MBA or Masters of Accounting a plus
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes and procedures
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications
- Strong quantitative skills
- Self-starter, positive attitude, zero ego, and ability to problem-solve with minimal supervision
- Strong communication and organizational skills, and impeccable attention to detail
- Must understand complex business models and strategy
- Ability to interact with senior management with confidence and credibility
- Can maintain positive cross-functional relationships with executives and department heads, and readily understand their complex business needs and requirements
- Ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks within an open and interactive environment
