Are you an excellent accountant looking to lead a strong team at a high growth startup? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment? As Accounting Manager at MealPal, you will be responsible for all areas of accounting operations, reporting and compliance. Reporting to the CFO, you will be responsible for leading the accounting team, ensuring timely processing of vendor and tax payments, creating and maintaining strong processes and controls and the creation of timely and accurate financial statements.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including:
    • month and end-year close
    • accounts payable/receivable
    • cash receipts
    • general ledger
    • payroll and utilities
    • cash forecasting
    • revenue and expenditure variance analysis
  • Ensure the accurate and timely analysis of budgets, forecasts, financial reports, and financial trends in order to assist Executive Management team
  • Establish, document and maintain proper accounting methods, policies and principles
  • Coordinate, lead and complete annual audits in a timely manner
  • Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions as necessary
  • Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Develop staff through mentorship and guidance
  • Act as the accounting expert, staying up to date with changes in accounting rules and applying them to MealPal when appropriate
  • Support the development of the annual planning cycle and interim financial updates
  • Identify improvements to automate existing processes

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting, CPA qualification strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and accounting standards
  • 8+ years of demonstrated professional experience and advancement in accounting focused positions
  • 3+ years audit experience at Big 4 or similar accounting firm
  • 3+ years of corporate experience, preferably with subscription or e-commerce experience
  • Experience working as a Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, Controller, or similar hands-on capacity in previous positions
  • Netsuite experience required, in-depth knowledge of Netsuite preferred. Experience with bill.com, expensify are preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills required
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines and strong problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to manage projects and collaborate with cross functional teams
  • Self-motivated and independent, detailed oriented, strong work ethic, and high integrity and ethical standards
