Senior Internal Auditor

The IA team at OnDeck acts as a third line of defense with a focus on adding value across the company through reducing risks, increasing operational efficiency, and protecting shareholders, customers, and employees. The Senior Internal Auditor role works closely with Head of Internal Audit in all functions, including managing Internal Audits, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Compliance Testing and the Annual Risk Assessment. This is a highly visible role will interact will all departments and levels across the company.
As an Internal Auditor OnDeck, you will:
- Execute the full audit cycle including analyzing risks, identifying controls, performing design and operating effectiveness testing, identifying issues and reporting.
- Manage Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Compliance Testing including scoping, testing, reporting, and coordinating with our external auditor.
- Obtain a thorough understanding of processes in order to document and enhance narratives, process flowcharts, control descriptions, and risk control matrices.
- Assist with the presentation of audit findings and risk assessments outcomes to Senior Management.
- Prepare high quality audit workpapers according to established department and industry standards.
- Develop relationships with all employee levels across the company, external auditors, and highlight best business and control practices.
- Partner with management to mitigate risks by helping to think through creative solutions to issues.
- Participate special projects as needed, including the annual risk assessment and development of the annual internal audit plan.
Necessary qualifications for success:
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience (Big 4 Accounting Firm experience a plus).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CPA, CIA, or CISA certification or evidence of progress towards a relevant certification.
- Strong analytical skills; ability to understand a broad range of factors (i.e. business processes, risks, controls and underlying IT architecture), identify control gaps, and focus on risk-based out of the box solutions.
- Ability to work effectively either both independently and as part of a team.
- High attention to detail demonstrating sound independent judgement.
- Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with control owners, clients, or management.
- Knowledge and understanding of audit methodologies and tools that support audit processes. Experience creating standard methodologies (internal audit, risk assessment, SOX) is a plus.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to travel when required (less than 10%)
Nice-to-haves (not required):
- Experience in financial services, specifically lending or FinTech is a plus
- Working knowledge of information technology general controls (ITGCs) is a plus
