About this Role:


The Finance department at Transfix is a lean, mission-critical team responsible for supporting the organization with a range of functions including finance, strategic planning, corporate and commercial presentations, fundraising, corporate development, cash management and investor relations. As the Strategic Finance Associate, you will have the opportunity to wear many hats, and will be instrumental in leading strategic projects for senior management as we operationalize new products and business lines supporting our digital freight marketplace.


Our ideal candidate is looking to bring their experience in high-caliber business environments such as investment banking, private equity, or corporate development and create tremendous value at a fast-paced transportation-tech startup. In addition to having a significant impact in the Operations, Sales & Marketing and Technology groups, this role will be highly visible at the most senior levels of Transfix (C-Suite and Board of Directors) and reports directly to the Head of FP&A.

What you'll do:

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to generate financial insights that support decision-making (e.g., strategy, partnerships, data science, emerging business units, sales & marketing)
  • Synthesize complex issues and detailed financial analysis into easily digestible communications for relevant stakeholders
  • Board presentation, earnings calls, and other stakeholder documentation
  • Lead project management of special strategic finance projects
  • Forecast development, track performance and understand deviations from actuals to drive strategy and operational rigor
  • Developing and maintaining financial models to support business planning
  • Seeking out answers to complex questions by leveraging internal and external resources. Synthesizing and communicating findings to internal stakeholders
  • Working with internal business leaders and subject matter experts (including data scientists, engineers, and operations) to design the tools and processes needed to accomplish and monitor business goals
  • Partnering with the operational and commercial leaders (VPs, Chief Revenue Officer, etc) to drive analyses that support growth, profitability and a better experiences for our shippers and carriers

About you:

  • 1+ years of experience in high caliber business environments including investment banking, private equity, consulting, or or in corporate finance / FP&A at either a high-growth startup or blue chip company
  • Highly organized and can successfully manage multiple work streams across different functions
  • Proactive and self-motivated to solve problems; comfortable with a high degree of responsibility and ambiguity
  • Strong quantitative and verbal skills with exceptional attention to detail and low tolerance for failure
  • Mastery of excel, including complex financial modeling (3-statement modeling, merger modeling, etc) 
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to explain your processes, logic, and decisions
  • Possess a "no job is too big or too small" mentality in order to support the various needs of the business

Location

Transfix's NYC HQ is steps from the Oculus and Fulton Center, with access to subway train lines. We are close to tons of restaurants, shops. We are on the top floor so have wonderful light and breathtaking views, including a spectacular view of One World Trade from our outdoor rooftop deck!
