As our Strategy and Finance Senior Associate, you will have the opportunity to closely partner with our 20+ (and growing) network of healthcare operating companies that sit across a diverse range of business models and sub-sectors. You will play a major role in supporting the growth of our portfolio companies through venture fundraising, evaluating M&A opportunities, and strategic finance analysis around expanding into new markets & launching new business lines. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to support platform-related initiatives including assessing new fundraising opportunities, evaluating capital deployment strategies, and deepening/growing our differentiated network of 100+ investors.
In this role, you will report to the Director of Strategy & Finance, and work with the entire Strategy & Finance team, at our New York City headquarters.
What you'll do:
- Portfolio Company Partnership:
- Develop close relationships with portfolio company management teams and help them to strategically and proactively evaluate current and future capital requirements.
- Work with the Head and Director of Strategy and Finance to quarterback the capital raises for our operating companies from the Redesign side while developing a systematic and efficient fundraising playbook for our founding teams.
- Support Redesign CEOs on narrative development and storytelling, through the diligence process and term sheet negotiation.
- Explore creative and alternative funding models (e.g. less dilutive options).
- Assess strategic buy-out, bolt-on, and exit opportunities.
- Assist with strategic analysis around expanding into new markets and launching new business lines.
- Assess financial decision-making processes and practices within our portfolio and develop a set of best practices to share with our new operating companies.
- Redesign Platform Initiatives:
- Serve as a thought partner to the Redesign team in identifying and assessing creative capital deployment opportunities for the Redesign platform.
- Deepen relationships with existing Redesign investors (100+) while also building new relationships amongst VCs, institutional investors, large family offices, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, and the broader financial community.
- Leverage investor dialogue to inform the New Ventures pipeline.
- Establish a foundation for tracking business performance and KPIs of our operating companies to aid in managing the businesses and reporting to investors; lay the groundwork for financial controls and future financings.
What you'll need:
- Background
- 3-5 years of financial, analytical, and strategic experience with at least 1+ years experience in growth equity, venture capital, private equity or corporate development at a fast-growing company AND 1+ years of investment banking.
- Deep interest in healthcare and/or the startup/venture ecosystem (healthcare background helpful but not necessary).
- Bachelor’s Degree with a strong record of high academic achievement.
- Skills
- Fluency in business model analysis and investment thesis development.
- Well-rounded skill set with strong technical skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and ability to approach problems with an investor mindset.
- Financial modeling, structuring, and valuation experience from M&A deals and/or capital raising transactions.
