Position Summary
The Tax Director is a hands-on position and will have excellent communication, interpersonal skills, technology, analytical and management skills.The ideal candidate relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, performs a variety of tasks, and will review the work of others (outside advisors, internal workpapers prepared by the Company’s finance department).
This position will be responsible for reviewing our federal, multi-state and local income tax returns prepared by our outside advisors and ensuring we are filing in all required states and localities (nexus requirements, etc). In addition, the position will ensure we are filing sales and other taxes (such as property, franchise, annual returns, etc) in the proper jurisdictions as well as evaluating additional requirements as the company expands into other states and other international jurisdictions. The position will conduct research and prepare technical memoranda on tax issues as necessary.

What You Are Accountable For
- Preparing financial statement income tax provisions pursuant to APB, FASB, and SEC pronouncements using Excel. Experience with implementing tax provision software is a plus.
- Supporting the company with sound tax research, planning, and advice
- Work with our external accounting firm in the preparation of consolidated Federal tax returns, as well as state and local returns; by gathering information required to ensure timely filings and ensuring completeness and accuracy of the filings
- Ensure our sales and VAT tax filings are properly filed using Avalara and Intacct. Also evaluate insourcing vs outsourcing international tax filing requirements
- Providing tax expertise in the areas of acquisition, international expansion, reorganizations, and consolidated returns
- Evaluating and recommending improvements to tax processes and controls, along with interacting with the company's internal and independent auditors.
- Strong project management skills necessary to work with outside advisors and management on development and implementation of tax planning strategies to minimize the company’s taxes while keeping the company tax compliant (transfer pricing, ownership structure, etc).

What We Require
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with CPA or MS Taxation preferred
- 10 years of tax experience, with increasing responsibility
- Experience working in an international technology company a plus
- Must have significant experience with tax provision preparation
- Experience with international tax planning
- Strong initiative and ability to work collaboratively (in a team environment) as well as independently
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment, where policies, practices and procedures may not be fully established
- Strong Excel skills and knowledge of tax research databases (CCH, BNA, etc), SOX and ERP Systems.
- Experience in cybersecurity, fintech, or fast-growing startup is required
- Experience in a high-growth tech startup growing from $50m to $200m in ARR
