As the Tax Lead for Compass, you will manage the tax strategy and compliance for the Company at the federal, state, local and international levels. You will assist in identifying and executing key tax strategies to reduce the Company’s overall tax burden and risk, as well as ensure that tax planning initiatives are properly incorporated into the tax compliance processes. Reporting to the Controller, you will be a key member of the Finance team.
At Compass You Will:
- Design and execute short and long-term tax strategies in support of our massive expansion
- Collaborate with our outside tax consultants
- Prepare and review tax filings
- Develop a best in class system for tracking and forecasting
- Prepare and calculate the quarterly and annual tax provision
- Closely collaborate with Finance and Accounting on tax and accounting issues
- Identify and take advantage of tax incentives across jurisdictions
- Collaborate with business unit leaders and Finance to manage tax exposure
- Support due diligence in connection with acquisitions
- Research tax laws, regulations and case law to resolve complex tax issues
- Closely monitor tax legislation and determine the tax effect of proposed changes and newly enacted tax laws. Collaborate with the Government Relations team on lobbying efforts on specific tax legislation for key issues
What We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or Economics
- At least 7 years of experience with public accounting or corporate tax at a company with sales in excess of $500 million
- CPA, plus JD or Master’s Degree in Taxation
- At least 5 years of experience researching and interpreting technical tax laws and regulations
- At least 3 years of experience developing and executing tax strategy
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications
- Real Estate experience preferred
- Self-starter, positive and cooperative attitude, zero ego, with demonstrated ability to problem-solve under minimal supervision
- Strong communication and organizational skills, and impeccable attention to detail
- Must understand complex business models and strategy
- Ability to interact with senior management with confidence and credibility; can work cross functionally with executives and department heads to understand complex business needs and requirements
- Ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks in an open and interactive environment
