VP of Finance
About The Role
Our VP of Finance will bring analytical rigor and insight into business decision-making. Tropic is playing in a massive market with an abundance of opportunities, and we need to ensure we’re making the right decisions and understanding the financial ramifications. This role also needs to be a top tier operator, capable of setting up systems and structures to support a hyper-growth employee base. This includes annual budgeting and forecasting, financial and business metrics monitoring, and policies and compliance procedures. The VP of Finance will be responsible for being the voice of the business, prepared to share metrics and insights with investors, the board of directors and future strategic partners.
What You’ll Work On
- Monitor and report on key SaaS metrics
- Forecasting strategic initiative impact on key business metrics
- Optimize and improve upon forecasting and projection capabilities
- Build a department-level budgeting practice and track spending against budget, with recurring re-forecasting
- Prepare metrics and reporting for board meetings, fundraising, and M&A activity
- Manage working capital and optimal contract structures
- Work with the executive team to align on strategic business priorities
- Oversee the Accounting team’s monthly, quarterly, and annual books closing process
- Determine optimal financial tech stack and lead transition to new ERP system
Who You Are
- 8+ years B2B finance experience with demonstrable success
- 4+ years experience at high-growth, venture-backed startup
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
