About the Role:

We’re looking to bring on an experienced, dynamic leader to build and own our revenue function. This is a newly created, exciting role and will have a major strategic influence and impact on how we grow Betterment for Business (B4B) for years to come. As our VP of Revenue, you will be a key leader within Betterment, acting as a strategic and tactical operator, reporting to the General Manager of B4B. It will be critical that you drive the achievement of revenue and empower a world-class growth engine capable of out performing those of the competition. You will oversee our sales and client success teams, and work cross-functionally to ensure the delivery of revenue objectives across products and markets. We are looking for someone metrics-driven, who is just as capable thinking broadly and strategically as they are digging into the details as both will be critical to driving growth, which can play out in b2b direct sales, channel partnership opportunities, and more.

The retirement space is far from stagnant and Betterment is a fast-paced environment. We’re looking for a candidate who is excited by the evolution of retirement benefits in the macro environment and can bring that excitement to our clients as we redefine employer benefits.

This role will be based out of Betterment Headquarters in NYC.

A Day in the Life: 

As an integral member of our B4B leadership team, you will partner with Sales, Client Success, and Marketing to determine strategy, implement performance metrics, and influence alignment of all revenue operations. This intersectional role will drive revenue effectiveness by establishing measurable processes to improve efficiency and determine growth goals in addition to driving GTM performance, produce actionable reporting and analysis while documenting and building strong relationships across the leadership team to influence decision making.

  • You will create and implement a plan to generate demand and achieve revenue results by operationalizing our targeted revenue, producing streams across new and existing clients. 
  • You will create, present, get buy-in and then drive execution of the sales strategy.
  • Optimally deploy Sales and Client Success personnel, making recommendations for coverage models, or team configurations in order to maximize productivity and effectiveness.
  • Monitor revenue pipelines to determine in advance the level of risk to obtaining desired goals and what adjustments should be implemented to accelerate revenue.
  • Establish high levels of quality, accuracy, and process consistency in planning, forecasting, and budgeting approaches used by the sales, marketing, and finance organizations.
  • Develop process, systems, and productivity metrics to ensure our teams are hitting their performance targets. Incorporate early detection and identification into the process to ensure timely actions are taken.
  • Evolve the methods and tools to measure, report and recommend improvements on sales effectiveness and enablement.
  • Partnering with General Manager, Sales Leadership, Finance, and Legal on pricing optimization, contract standardization, and quote-to-contract efficiencies.
  • Equitably assign quotas and territories while ensuring financial objectives are optimally allocated to all sales channels and resources through the quota program.

What We’re Looking For: 

  • Proven experience as a VP-level Revenue leader or revenue/business operations management in a scale-up or growth phase company, preferred in a B2B or SasS business.
  • Experience in strategic planning and implementation in a scale-up or growth phase company
  • A track record building and delivering revenue programs from the ground up in a fast-growing organization.
  • Well-organized, strong communication skills and ability to manage and influence direct and indirect reports with high motivation for continuous improvement and ability to drive impact.
  • Experience successfully managing analytically rigorous corporate initiatives leveraging standard SaaS sales metrics and benchmarking.
  • Preferred experience scaling a company to more than $100M in annual revenue volume

  • Proven ability to identify and lead growth enabling initiatives for rapidly scaling organizations.
  • Experience architecting and managing revenue systems from ground up - CRM, Marketing Automation (Salesforce ideal).

What Happens Next?

Many of our interview questions will be behavioral, aimed at understanding how you might operate here at Betterment. We may ask you to complete a case study exercise or technical assessments, depending on the role, as we aim to collect a robust set of data points throughout the interview process.

On average, it takes us around 2-3 weeks to make a hiring decision, depending on your availability and sense of urgency. As a best practice, we aim to interview at least 3 final round candidates before making a hiring decision.
