Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will be at the forefront of driving change and improvement in the company’s overall financial performance. As a leader and manager of all finance and accounting functions, s/he will instill appropriate levels of financial discipline across all accounting and control functions, developing and executing systems and controls that align with the overall business plan and strategic direction of the company. The Controller will be expected to enhance and implement the analytical framework and financial metrics to enable informed, astute business decisions which identify early trends, capitalize on opportunities and minimize risk. The ideal candidate will have deep functional expertise in all aspects of finance and accounting, including financial statements, budgeting and tax filings. S/he will be experienced in driving the financial direction of a rapidly growing technology company, building a best-in-class function with limited resources, and possess an understanding of the demands and nuances inherent in a dynamic business environment with multiple, complex revenue models. S/he will be recognized as an outstanding leader capable of developing a nimble, talented team of financial professionals into strong business partnerships with operating executives. Importantly, the Controller will be expected to ensure that the appropriate staff and system resources are in place to support the business today and as it grows in the future.

What You'll Do

  • Financial Operations
    • Lead, manage and control financial operations, including accounting, tax, forecasting, budgeting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reporting.
    • Apply in-depth knowledge of business processes and accounting procedures, financial systems, and business system requirements to support the company’s newly installed NetSuite ERP system.
    • Develop and maintain internal accounting control and reporting policies for a rapidly growing company with multiple lines of business and revenue streams
    • Manage all aspects of GAAP, tax compliance, and reporting.
    • Serve as subject matter expert and lead project management for system and process enhancements and planning for future requirements.
    • Lead monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, General Ledger oversight, budgeting and planning.
  • Business Partnerships
    • Acquire a deep understanding of the business, develop KPIs, tools, and metrics for use by management and investors.
    • Partner with client services leaders to reconcile contract-level deliverables and revenue recognition.
    • Generate additional reporting mechanisms that provides business leaders with real-time data that enables faster, more analytical business decisions.
    • Provide thought leadership and serve as trusted advisor in all matters related to financial and accounting controls that could have an impact on the business.
    • Actively engage in outreach to business leaders to identify and anticipate potential needs or concerns.
  • Team Management
    • Lead and motivate a talented accounting team in the utilization of NetSuite capabilities to streamline financial processes and deliver improved operational metrics to business leaders.
    • Identify and create opportunities for accounting team to serve as integral members of the business in support of the company’s strategic and operational objectives.
    • Ensure the recruitment, retention and development of all team members to achieve best practice standards that meet the needs of the business.

What You've Done

  • Demonstrate deep understanding of the company’s complex business model and revenue streams.
  • Demonstrate mastery of the company’s finance and accounting practices, leveraging NetSuite platform to generate real-time financial information for business leaders.
  • Identify process improvements leading to increased efficiencies and cost controls, maximized contributions to business planning and analysis, and reduced risk.
  • Become an indispensable partner to business leaders. 
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive, best practices experience in corporate accounting with a minimum of three years as a hands-on controller or assistant controller in a rapidly growing HCIT or related technology services organization. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with MBA or CPA certification strongly preferred. Early public accounting experience essential.
  • Experienced in technology solutions businesses with complex business models such as partnerships and revenue sharing.
  • Confident financial executive with the ability to drive change rapidly and effectively by influencing behavior without formal authority. 
  • Accomplished leader and persuasive communicator within rapid growth environments. Possesses strong business acumen, effectiveness in presenting complex financial information to business leaders and boards, and the ability to seamlessly navigate across technical, analytical and business audiences.
  • Experience leveraging ERP systems, particularly NetSuite, as a platform for business process improvement, accounting procedures and financial systems.
  • Intellectually curious, charismatic personality who demonstrates a ‘can do’, flexible and adaptable style. Shifts easily between strategic and tactical modes.
  • Hands on, can-do attitude and approach, comfortable in a fast-paced, growing environment with a small team.
  • Experience with privately held and/or private equity backed technology organizations and exposure to the dynamics of a high-growth and/or highly changing environment.
  • Given the nature of the information involved with this role, must operates with utmost discretion, possess and unquestionable integrity and reputation, with a track record of driving change and delivering results while maintaining the highest standards of professional conduct.
