Head of Public Policy, Brussels

We’re looking for a Head of Public Policy, Brussels to join Snap Inc. As a member of the International Public Policy team, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day interactions and relationships with the main EU institutions and related stakeholders in Brussels. Located in Brussels, you will co-design, and execute the public policy plan for Snap’s engagement with the Brussels EU community. The role reports to the Director of Public Policy EU, who is based in The Hague.
Brussels is increasingly the epicentre for the development of new legislative and regulatory solutions for the tech sector and Snap’s relations with the EU institutions, Member State governments and other key public stakeholders are of the utmost importance. Ensuring that Snap’s distinctive voice is heard and accommodated in these policy-making circles will be a key priority.
What you’ll do:
Serve as the main day-to-day policy representative of Snap Inc in Brussels, driving Snap’s policy agenda in Europe. Further deepen relationships with relevant officials, NGOs, trade associations, non-governmental organizations, and other influential partners.
Partner with our local consultants to achieve our goals.
Help to coordinate/attend events in Brussels
Work closely with the Director of Public Policy EU, the Senior Director of Public Policy, International, and on occasion the VP of Global Public Policy and the senior executive organization.
Collaborate closely with Legal and Business teams to analyse legislative initiatives, advise on risks and opportunities, and develop company policy positions and messaging
Partner with the Communications team to help them appropriately respond to Policy-related media inquiries, by providing the correct policy narrative that best represents Snap Inc.
Be the first to act and respond to the appropriate public policy inquiries and consultations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
A proven ability for shaping, and working with, government officials, NGOs, coalitions and other stakeholder groups
Good EU tech policy understanding and existing relationships within the EU institutions and the wider partner community
Excellent communication and advocacy skills and sound political judgement
Forward thinking and proactive ability on legislative, regulatory and public policy issues. Ability to rapidly understand and master complex policy issues
Ability to work with Snap business to identify pertinent issues and orient the public policy team to meet priorities. Ability to work independently/ self-starter in a fast-paced, multicultural environment
Teammate with a positive attitude, motivation and a sense of humour. Articulate and thoughtful
Demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of external groups and individuals, including those who are opponents or critics
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in relevant field
5+ years relevant experience in EU-related affairs
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong experience of working in Brussels
Full English proficiency necessary and additional EU language preferred
