HyperScience is seeking an accomplished HR professional to establish and oversee the People Ops function at our 60-person organization (and counting!). We are looking for someone who has experience building out and owning this function at high-growth startups, and knows how to do so across multiple offices in different parts of the world. This is a critical role that will help build the foundation of our company as we enter our next phase of growth.

What You’ll Achieve:

  • Within 30 days...
  • Gain familiarity with the organization and culture.
  • Draw on observations and past experiences to begin building out a People Ops strategy and roadmap.
  • Provide perspectives on effectively implementing policies and processes over both the immediate and longer terms.
  • Design and implement scalable global HR systems, tools, and compliance programs;Organize and manage all employee data, files, and information in ways that are easy to manage and compliant.
  • Within 90 days…
  • Design, operationalize, and iterate on global people operations programs / processes in line with our culture and values, including:
  • Domestic / international compensation
  • Equity / benefits / rewards
  • Performance management - Programs that identify, promote, and reward excellence and drive continuous, transparent feedback.
  • Career development - Scalable learning and development programs that help grow our team’s capabilities and drive employee retention.
  • Management training - Training, coaching, and feedback for making our leaders better managers and programs that prepare high-potential employees for management roles.
  • Hiring / onboarding - Improve existing onboarding process to welcome new hires into the company and set them up for success more quickly.
  • Engagement / retention - Employee engagement strategy potentially leveraging interviews, surveys, data analysis, etc.
  • Compensation / workforce planning - Understand and anticipate hiring / development needs vs. capabilities needed to deliver business objectives to create workforce plans / forecasts that support overall business goals.
  • Ensure compliance with all EEO, Employment, Benefits, Payroll, and Wage-hour Laws and execution of necessary activities such as mandatory trainings, etc.
  • Within 6 months and beyond…
  • Collaboratively set and execute on the long-term vision for the organization, including future organizational design and change management initiatives.
  • Partner with functional business leaders as a trusted advisor to help teams grow effectively and achieve overall business goals.
  • Nurture an environment to attract and grow a high-performing, motivated, and collaborative team.
  • Help refine our company values and ensure that all decisions, programs, and processes are aligned with our culture and core beliefs.
  • Serve as strategic advisor and point of contact to company leadership, managers, and employees for all people-, workplace-, and career-related issues.
  • Drive all employee experience and cultural initiatives in line with our company values and culture.

Desired Experience:

  • 7+ years HR / People Operations experience, preferably in similar startup / growth stage companies.
  • Track record of building People Ops programs within an organization (rather than just overseeing existing ones) and owning them from start to finish.
  • Track record of being an HR business partner to executives across a variety of functional areas, aligning People Ops strategy with business goals / growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to interface and maintain effective relationships across all departments and employees of an organization.
  • Experience in coaching and establishing scalable training programs across all levels of seniority / management experience.
  • Willingness and ability to perform both strategic and tactical / operational tasks.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent judgment, tact, compassion, and ability to effectively make and deliver meaningful decisions across the org.
