About People at Vericred

Vericred has built the first multi-carrier, end-to-end quoting, enrollment and member management API solution for Health Insurance and Employee Benefits. Our API technology is transforming and modernizing a massive industry. With early adoption of our products from all of the major medical carriers and overwhelming interest from end-user-facing platforms, our business and our team are poised for massive growth.

While our products are technology and data oriented, our greatest asset is our people. Over the next two years we see our headcount across two offices and a partially distributed workforce expanding greatly. Our ability to execute on that expansion is, in large part, predicated on our ability to professionalize and scale the recruiting, engagement, inclusion, and retention of exceptional people. Put differently, getting the right person to lead our People efforts is mission critical.

We are seeking a Head of People to work in partnership with the co-founders and management team. With such a wide purview, prioritization and time management will be key traits of success in this role. The ideal candidate is a process-driven, outcome-oriented, high empathy leader that is ready to bring their know-how and creativity to bear on a rapidly growing team and company.

The Head of People will be based out of the NYC Headquarters and will report to the Vice President & Chief of Staff.

In this role you will:

  • Balance: Be a doer and a visionary. We need someone willing to do the high grit, low glamour work as we build out this team. We also need your vision and strategic mindset to set us up for the long term.
  • Structure: Formalize and in some areas build from the ground up our recruiting, role levelling, compensation, and performance management processes
  • Foster: Help us to create an atmosphere of trust, inclusion, and equity
  • Refine: Partner with Leadership to define or redefine policy, benefits, system selection, and compensation strategies in line with budget, recruiting, and retention needs
  • Attract: Lead the curation of our employer brand presence across multiple channels and partners in concert with the Marketing team (we're a BuiltInNYC Best Small Companies to Work 2021 and aspire to earn further recognition!)
  • Champion: Help the team integrate company values into every aspect of life at Vericred
  • Coach: Manage a team of two (to begin) covering both recruiting and people operations functions and create resources, partnership, and learning opportunities for employees and managers throughout the company
  • Be an active member of the Security Team, ensuring our people processes support a secure and compliant environment

Reach out to us if you:

  • Have 6+ years of experience in HR and recruiting functions including at least 2 years of management experience
  • Have worked in a high-growth company and experienced the successes and failures that come with rapid scale
  • Build relationships everywhere you go through trust and excellent communication
  • Possess a passion for maintaining and evolving company culture
  • Thrive when you are moving fast, building things, and problem solving
  • Solid understanding of HR best practices and labor legislation
