theSkimm makes it easier to be smarter. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

As theSkimm’s HR Business Partner, you’ll oversee employee relations initiatives and manage theSkimm’s HR operations, including payroll, benefits, 401K, and compliance. You will work closely with management and our People team to understand the health of our culture and implement development programs that help our people and company thrive. Ideal candidates have worked at an organization that has experienced rapid growth, are willing to take a creative and tenacious approach to operational and administrative tasks, and are unfazed by quickly changing environments and schedules.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Build trusted relationships with employees and serve as theSkimm’s main point of contact for HR advice
  • Partner with managers, coach and resolve personnel issues; support and administer formal and informal performance reviews; drive compensation reviews and conversations; provide one-on-one coaching and career pathing to employees; support recruiting initiatives, and provide ad hoc support of the People Team as necessary
  • Administer payroll, benefits and theSkimm’s 401K plans; manage our PEO relationship (Sequoia One), and provide forward-thinking guidance on
  • Partner with People Team and others to champion Diversity & Inclusion efforts and initiate employee enrichment and community involvement programs to foster a diverse and inclusive working environment
  • Partner with Employee Experience Manager and team to provide one-of-a-kind employee perks and team-building and bonding experiences

WHAT YOU NEED

  • You have 3-5 years of HR experience - with a minimum of 2 years managing payroll and benefits.
  • You are a great communicator - and can engage professionally on the phone, in person, or in writing with people across and throughout the organization and externally.
  • You’re proactive and self-directed - and can often figure out what needs to be done and how to do it before anyone asks.
  • You balance empathy with the ability to GSD - and you love to communicate and collaborate. You are open-minded to change and innovation and are driven by all things people and culture.
  • You are tenacious and resilient - and will work continuously to find the right candidates, sell the company and the position, and effectively close an offer.
  • You are passionate - about theSkimm and it’s products, and providing candidates with a high-touch experience from start to finish.
