Motivate is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to join the HR team supporting Citi Bike operations. This role provides leadership and support in functional areas of human resources including recruitment, employment, employee and labor relations, employee performance, benefits administration, employee development, and organizational development. This role will report to the Director of Human Resources and sit in our office in Brooklyn.

About the Role:

 

  • Provide advice and counseling to department managers on matters related to employee and labor relations issues, performance issues, collective bargaining agreement and disciplinary matters
  • Investigate and respond to employee concerns including all formal and informal complaints
  • Support Senior Human Resources Manager with grievance meetings and arbitrations
  • Establish and maintain strong and constructive relationships with management and union representatives
  • Work with the HR team and corporate HR staff to ensure accurate and timely processing of biweekly payroll
  • Assist employees and management with all payroll related inquiries
  • HRIS reporting
  • Assist with recruiting and onboarding efforts by working closely with other members of the HR team and Hiring Managers to develop and maintain job descriptions, job postings, tracking and reviewing candidates, running background and MVR checks and new hire orientation meetings
  • Coordinate tasks related to temporary agency employees
  • Assist with benefit meetings for new hires
  • Work with other members of the HR team and corporate HR staff to ensure that employees are enrolled for benefits; review relevant bills for accuracy and benefit reimbursements are processed
  • Assist with Open Enrollment – including communications, delivery of information sessions and tracking to ensure appropriate documentation is complete
  • Ensure hires, terminations, status changes, garnishments, direct deposit enrollments, and other changes are inputted correctly
  • Work closely with the Senior Human Resources Manager on miscellaneous projects and other tasks as they arise
  • Assist with the processing of unemployment and other claims
  • Help manage other clerical duties and administrative work
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

About You

  • You have three years’ experience working in an HR Generalist role
  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations or related field
  • You are experienced in working with payroll and an HRIS
  • You have been working in a union environment for at least two (2) years
  • You are a wiz in Microsoft Office (PPT, Excel, Word) as well as G Suite
  • You have stellar interpersonal skills; must be able to able to deal with employees at all levels and to be able to handle sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy
  • You have excellent organization and time management skills;
  • You can work independently in a fast-paced environment and take initiative to solve problems and complete tasks as they arise
  • You can stay positive through tough situations and know how to work effectively on a team
  • You’re not afraid to laugh at yourself
  • You are familiar with basic HR-related laws and concepts
