The Role:

The Learning & Development Program Manager will design, develop and facilitate innovative yet comprehensive learning opportunities for leaders and individual contributors at Newsela. Reporting to the Director of Learning & Development, this individual will be a thought partner to build an overall L&D strategy to ensure all at Newsela have the right opportunities for development. The first priority for the Learning & Development Program Manager will be to build a coaching program for the Customer Team at Newsela that can be also scaled successfully across the Organization. This will also come with facilitation of the program and providing 1:1 coaching to leaders when a need is identified to ensure our people leaders become more effective leaders and to leverage their leadership capabilities to maximize performance and people potential across teams. Additionally, this role will be a trusted advisor on all things people related across the teams. After this individual completes the development of the coaching program and has scaled to the organization, will then partner with the Director of Learning & Development to identify and create other programs to address needs of Newsela.

Why You’ll Love This Role:

People are your passion. You enjoy creating learning opportunities to help leaders and individual contributors grow and develop. You get to make an organizational impact. You love to collaborate. You’ll have the opportunity to build relationships with many in order to provide consultative guidance with measurable and demonstrable impact. Your work will directly support scaling a progressive People organization in a fast-growing, mission-driven technology company that values diversity, equity, including and belonging. Your work will also directly enable our teams to continue building a high-engagement culture and environment, and will contribute to the effectiveness of leadership across Newsela as a whole. You will have the opportunity to support individual contributors, coach leaders of all levels, and partner with senior executives to achieve business initiatives. You will work autonomously and asynchronously, yet have the support of the team at large. You’ll also be empowered to think big and bring fresh ideas to the organization in order to help us drive high impact that’s measurable and outcome based. In doing so, you will ultimately help enable our company to deliver engaging, culturally responsive learning content to K-12 students and teachers nationwide.

Why We’ll Love You:

You have six+ years of experience in Learning & Development, and you have proven experience with building, scaling, and program managing successful Learning & Development programs. Experience building an internal coaching program is a plus, as is coaching certification (though this is not required). If you do not have coaching certification, it is important you have a firm grounding in coaching principles, importance in providing coaching and feedback to individuals, etc. You love to use data to drive your decision making, are very focused on measuring the impact (not just satisfaction) of the programs you deliver, and you have experience building to scale. You understand how to incorporate your knowledge of learning design and adult learners into the design, build, and delivery of learning programs. You get excited about both the design and strategy of learning programs as well as personally delivering or facilitating training. You’re a proven problem-solver who is able to identify trends or issues within a team and orchestrate and/or implement solutions that leverage people/talent/process to address the core factors influencing the team and business goals. You’re comfortable navigating ambiguity, embracing change, and shifting priorities pragmatically. You have supported HR partners when needs arise and always have a DEIB mindset when managing programs and providing support. You have an understanding of HR processes (including but not limited to hiring, career pathing, performance management talent management, DEIB, etc.) and supporting business functions, especially with customer facing teams. You’re familiar with navigating Google Workspace, UltiPro, Slack, Greenhouse, and Monday.com.
