The Manager, People Operations will partner directly with the CEO, COO and executive team to build, enhance and lead the People function at MealPal, including executing across many functional areas of HR including culture and engagement, onboarding, employee experience, compensation & benefits, performance management compliance and employee development. As we continue to grow this role is expected to become a key operating leadership role leading a team specializing in certain areas.
Responsibilities:
- Create a scalable, cohesive infrastructure that works for all employees
- Manage our PEO relationship and maintain employee records both within the PEO/HR platform (currently Justworks) and within our internal systems
- Manage and improve the onboarding process, including the first day experience, pre-start date communications, first week experience and knowledge transfer to create a best in class experience for new hires
- Lead recruiting efforts using internal and external resources, working with our internal recruiter(s) and hiring managers to develop impactful, effective job postings, identify the most effective recruiting channels and developing a database of potential candidates
- Engage with the management team about the corporate values that the management team holds dear and integrate these into broader policies, tools and learning experiences to ensure these values are widely understood and permeate the business.
- Act as an internal resource for employees with HR related questions, engaging with our PEO or other third parties to address HR issues or guide employees through processes
- Maintain and improve the employee handbook, developing and enforcing policies that are compliant, practical and aligned with the company’s values and culture
- Lead the performance management process
- Collect, maintain and analyze employee engagement data, developing strategies to improve on areas where weaknesses are found and working closely with the executive team to ensure alignment with corporate values
- Own the annual benefits process, including open enrollment
- Educate employees on benefit options and availability, including health care, 401k, and fringe benefits such as commuter benefits
- Develop a database of key information for employees, creating a knowledge base that employees can reference for regularly asked questions about HR or other matters
- Manage the off boarding process, including termination paperwork, exit interviews and internal communications

Requirements:
- Bachelors degree or similar
- 4+ years working in a People, HR or other culture focused role. We are open to people with non-traditional backgrounds with excellent organizational skills
- Superior attention to detail and a passion for people and workplace culture
- Ability to work autonomously, meet deadlines and thrive in a very fast paced environment
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- General understanding of HR processes (off boarding, onboarding, benefits)
- Team player who enjoys a dynamic environment with varied challenges
- Successful performance in an early to mid stage startup environment is a plus
- Experience working with Justworks or a similar PEO is a plus
