We are looking for a detailed Payroll & Benefits Specialist to manage and process payroll and work in collaboration with our external PEO platform to ensure our team members get paid every month.
Your Day-to-Day Role
Payroll
- Own payroll accounting, transactions, reporting, stop payments and other operations.
- Ensure that employee payroll is processed accurately and timely.
- Review payroll reports and timesheets for correctness before payroll transactions.
- Oversee salary changes, compensations, deductions, bonus, vacations payouts, and benefits for employees.
- Performing account balance and payroll reconciliations.
- Ensure that employee payroll processing is in compliance with federal and state laws.
- Assist with opening and closing state and local payroll tax accounts.
- Assist in payroll and timesheet audit activities.
- Assist in tax calculations and filing activities as per IRS regulations.
- Respond to payroll queries from employees in a timely manner.
- Analyze payroll issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure payroll system is up-to-date and accurate.
- Maintaining accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions.
- Preparing and distributing income statements.
- Preparing financial reports for accounting and auditing purposes.
- Preparing periodic payroll reports for review by management.
- Partner with global payroll provider for timely and accurate processing of international payroll
Benefits
- Acts as the liaison between the employees and various vendors/carriers.
- Assists with annual open enrollment process and ACA reporting.
- Oversees COBRA administration, including COBRA payments and reconciliation.
- Manage disability and family leaves in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Your Work Experience
- Associates or BA/ BS from an accredited university in Accounting or Finance.
- 2-3 years of previous experience owning the payroll process for a company of 400+ employees
- 1 year of vendor management and/or customer service experience
- 1 year of benefits administration preferred
- Familiarity with HRIS and Payroll Systems such as HiBob, BambooHR, UltiPro or similar HRIS
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and payroll practices.
- Strong experience working with accounting and payroll software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High numerical aptitude and very detail oriented
- You have strong project management skills and have a can-do attitude
- Results as well as process-driven
- Strong people and interpersonal acumen that develops strong relationships and is comfortable working in cross functional integrated teams
- Self-motivated with a collaborative spirit

This is a full time position. The ideal candidate will work out of our New Jersey office to maximize interaction with business.
