We’re currently looking for an organized, proactive, flexible, and detail-oriented People Operations Senior Associate who’s enthusiastic about delivering an awesome People Operations experience. 

The People Operations Senior Associate will  hit the ground running and be the first point of contact for all things People here at Alfred. The primary responsibilities of this role are managing People-related systems, providing excellent internal customer service for employee inquiries, leading payroll, administering leave, and maintaining and interpreting policies to support our growing team.

How you’ll contribute to #OneTeam

Systems & Data

  • Maintain HR data ensuring integrity and accuracy including updates to all employee information changes and additions
  • Maintain and oversee People-related systems working to create a frictionless and positive experience for employee interactions with the People team
  • Create meaningful reporting and present analysis and information
  • Conduct regular audits of system security, access, permissions, and approvals
  • Support  all People Operations systems including the selection and implementation of new tools as well day to day administration of existing systems

Service & Experience

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all employees to resolve inquiries and issues related to payroll, benefits and company policies with warmth, a sense of urgency, attention to detail, and amazing internal customer service
  • Serve as the liaison connecting employees to the broader People team as needed

Process & Programs

  • Identify and recommend opportunities for automation and processes improvement
  • Streamline workflows and processes to craft efficiencies and actively develop ways to improve reporting, analysis and operational support
  • Lead payroll by reviewing data, liaising with employees and managers, and ensuring information is submitted accurately and on time 
  • Build, manage, and maintain relationships with outside vendors to ensure scope of work is delivered timely
  • Lead Leave Administration process
  • Support employees with questions and changes by liaising with vendors and brokers 
  • Own the onboarding/offboarding process from a systems and compliance perspective to ensure a smooth transition
  • Attend orientations and support new hires with I-9s and benefits enrollment
  • Guide new team members through onboarding, providing a positive day one experience

Policies & Compliance 

  • Support the design and implementation of company employee policies including the employee handbook; ensuring all policies are updated and shared
  • Audit policies, procedures, and ensure documentation - standard operating procedures (SOPs) are developed, maintained, and accessible
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
  • Monitor local laws and regulations; ensuring policies are always up to date
  • Manage employee files ensuring they are up to date and compliant

Who you are

  • 3+ years of HR or People Operations experience
  • Broad understanding of HR, compliance, and benefits 
  • Willing to work Eastern Standard Time
  • High level of integrity; ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
  • Analytical, creative and pragmatic thinker and problem-solver
  • Customer service orientated and heavy emphasis in creating the best possible employee experience throughout the employee lifecycle
  • Strong organizational, project management and creative problem-solving skills
  • Is comfortable acquiring data from multiple sources, carrying out data analysis, and communicating data findings
  • Has experience researching, drafting, and implementing HR policy
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Ability to build and document tools, processes, workflows, and guides for partners
  • Ability to shift priorities based on the needs and to make progress in a timely manner on multiple, concurrent projects
  • Self-starter who proactively identifies opportunities to streamline processes and improve data quality
  • Familiarity with HR databases 
  • Familiarity with current CA, NY, and federal employment laws as well proven experience in becoming familiar with other State laws
  • Experience with creating and running a welcoming new hire onboarding experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Two blocks up from Battery Park, Alfred is no more than a ten-minute walk to water south, east, and west. Our office is easy to get to with many subway lines, ferries, and the PATH within a short walk.
