Recruiter
Thyme Care is an oncology digital health start-up that’s focused on radically improving the cancer experience with early and ongoing intervention. We help those with cancer and their caregivers, clinicians, health plans, and employers by coordinating integrated care that leads to better results, lower costs, and aligned incentives. Every Thyme Care member is assigned a personalized team of physician-guided oncology nurses and resource specialists who provide education, guidance, and advocacy as they navigate the complex healthcare system. We facilitate quick access to quality resources and high-value care, coordinating directly with providers and offering support every step of the way. Our high-touch, tech-enabled model generates actionable insights that allow us to identify at-risk members earlier and offer them the most relevant support based on where they are in their cancer journey—closing gaps in care and eliminating excess spend.
Your role:
At Thyme Care, we believe that our success as an organization lies in our ability to attract and retain the most talented, capable, empathetic, and kind talent who care deeply about helping people throughout their cancer journey. As we scale, the Recruiting team will be the engine that drives our internal growth.
Recruiting on our team is unusual: we hire niche roles that require specific profiles and backgrounds. Therefore, understanding how to build and run a recruiting process is critical (defining roles with hiring teams, building competency based structured interview kits, sourcing candidates, interviewing, and closing candidates in the stage). Additionally, you’ll need to get up to speed in the oncology and value-based care landscape quickly. In our model, Recruiters are business partners and consultants to our executive team. As a full-cycle Recruiter, you will guide our hiring managers with your expertise to shape their approved roles and find the right candidates to fill them. You’ll need to be agile, as you’ll have the opportunity to recruit for technical, clinical, executive, and operational roles across the organization.
You will be our first Recruiter—reporting to the Recruiting Lead and working alongside our Recruiting Coordinator—and will be a foundational part of our recruiting team. We’d expect you to dive into full-cycle recruiting capacities quickly as you get up to speed on Thyme Care, oncology, the tech-enabled value-based care landscape, and US healthcare.
Within the first month on the team you will:
- Get to know and own the recruiting process. First and foremost, you will learn our recruiting process and philosophy (competency based structured interviews). Then, you will ensure that all steps are planned and (from the job description to scorecard) and consistently delivered (hiring manager kick-offs, interview scheduling, interview panel debriefs, onboarding, etc.) every time.
- Get up to speed on the business, team, tools, and templates. You’ve hit the ground running and have started contributing to the team’s work. Maybe you’re building talent pipelines for technical roles, or are working to guide clinical candidates through the recruiting process. We recruit full-cycle, so early on we will expect you to do everything: strategize with hiring managers, define jobs and specs, source effectively, run smooth and competency-based assessment processes, negotiate, and close candidates.
- Understand the market. You’ll work with our Recruiting Lead to map the oncology, value-based care, and health tech markets so that we can more easily reach and engage the right talent when it’s necessary for the organization.
- Find better ways to recruit. You’ve helped us improve the way we use our ATS (Greenhouse), work as a hybrid team, our candidate experience, reporting, and are working on at least one project that will help us prepare for scale and hypergrowth.
By the end of 2022:
- You have already made 10-15 fantastic hires (across operations, clinical, and tech). Hiring Managers and candidates have loved their experience working with you (you add leverage, insight, and expertise to every process).
- You’ve cultivated relationships with folks who are relevant to our organization: whether SWE’s in the healthtech space, folks who’ve worked with Payers + in VBC, and clinical staff, this is done so that you have a ready pipeline of talent when new roles come live.
- You have contributed to our second iteration of interview training and are owning part of our recruiting operations: whether reporting, candidate experience, employer branding, or our D+I initiatives.
What Leads to Success:
We believe these characteristics would lead to your success in the role:
- People-first. Thyme Care’s mission and members matter to you, deeply.
- A bias to action. You like to get things done. You don’t need anyone to tell you when to do your work. Scope doesn’t matter, you’ll always find ways to contribute even if it’s “not your job.” In the same vein, no job is too small for you.
- Effective listener and communicator. You are persuasive and articulate but always start by listening. You build rapport, trust, and great working relationships with colleagues.
- Expertise. You’ll excel in this role if you have had at least 3 years of experience in a recruiting role, love building efficient processes, building relationships, setting expectations, and getting things done. It’s important that you are process-oriented and willing to learn new tools and technology. You’ll work with Greenhouse every day, and it’s important that you’re very familiar with our technology.
- People-focused. You are passionate about people and enjoy creating excellent partnerships across the team and ecosystem with peers and executives alike.
- Comfort with ambiguity. You have a proven track record of success within scaling businesses, fast-paced environments, and startups. You understand that rapid changes to the business, strategy, organization, and priorities is par for the course.
We are committed to promoting the health and well-being of all individuals. As a provider of cancer care navigation, we recognize that those with cancer constitute a vulnerable population at risk of contracting COVID-19. As such, Thyme Care has adopted a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy, requiring all employees to receive a COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of employment, subject only to conflicting laws and approved exemptions based on medical or religious objections. Additionally, we believe employees should be paid fairly compared to their peers inside the company and in the market. We also believe that your personal needs and preferences should be taken into consideration so we allow some choice between equity and cash.
We recognize a history of inequality in healthcare. We’re here to challenge the status quo and create a culture of inclusion through the care we give and the company we build. We embrace and celebrate a diversity of perspectives in reflection of our members and the members we serve. We are an equal opportunity employer.
