As a Senior Benefits Consultant, you are the team lead for our benefit consulting cohorts. This will include managing your own book of business, in addition to oversight of individual books of business managed by a cohort of Benefits Consultants, Benefits Analysts and Benefits Specialists.

The scope of this role includes assisting clients with benefit program design and implementation, project management, compliance, and delivering an overall positive client experience. Additionally, you will serve as mentor for junior consulting staff in your cohort and the escalation point for client issues within your and their books of business. To be successful in this role, you will have to have a proven track record in a client-facing role, managing projects and mentoring junior employees.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute strategies to maintain ACA compliance and expanded benefit consulting services for clients
  • Educate clients and prospects on all current and future trends in ACA
  • Develop annual planning calendar for book of business and handle client escalations
  • Partner with Benefit Carriers to develop strategies and services to drive participant goals and ensure compliance with overall plan guideline and regulations
  • Participate in client presentations and related topics within the benefits specialty
  • Provide direction on client messaging strategy and media, and review client employee benefits related communications content
  • Prioritize and make recommendations for enhancements in the client experience
  • Assist clients with inbound support related to short & long term benefits investment strategy, plan design, rates, and open enrollment tools
  • Actively participate in client strategy discussions and provide strategic analysis and consulting expertise for clients’ benefit programs
  • Manage client benefits program implementation and the annual client benefits renewal process
  • Cross departmental partnership to provide client with positive overall Namely experience
  • Develop and provide client and employee benefit education sessions
  • Identify new product sale opportunities to grow existing book of business
  • Act as a team lead to mentor and assist in the development of junior cohort members
  • Manage and facilitate client escalations for your clients and your cohort’s clients

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • At least 5 years of benefits consulting experience
  • Excellent understanding of ACA compliance and future trends
  • Knowledge of insurance products, bid preparation and analysis, and claim resolution
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to multitask
  • Understanding of underwriting concepts
  • Ability to communicate and work across client organizations
  • Demonstrate ability to take ownership and accountability to see a project from start to finish
  • Troubleshooting skills, with creative ability to overcome challenges and problem-solve
  • Excellent communication, organization, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to understand client needs and deliver results under tight deadlines
  • Prior management experience preferred
