That's why we are looking for our first Technical Recruiter who can help build out world class Engineering, Product, and Hardware teams. You’re a great fit if you are highly organized with off-the-charts EQ and communication skills and tenacity when it comes to finding the right people for our open roles. You have the rare ability to identify talented team-players and align their personal goals with the growth and needs of the company.

How you'll contribute:

  • Develop and execute hiring strategy for top engineering and design talent
  • Provide an efficient, high-touch experience for every candidate from application to offer, acting as candidate advocate, evaluating skill level, and driving the interview and offer processes, including reference checks
  • Build high-trust, advisory relationships with hiring managers and interviewers alike; req opening kick-offs, regular check-ins with the team, interview preparation and debriefs
  • Develop a deep understanding of the strategy, objectives, processes, culture, and skill needs of the hiring teams that you support; use this knowledge to co-author effective job descriptions, craft recruitment strategies, and communicate with candidates.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Eight Sleep’s culture, product, strategic direction, and competitors, and use this knowledge to craft compelling messaging to potential candidates
  • Proactively source candidates through a variety of methods (i.e., digital, social media, events), building a consistent pipeline of talent for high priority and hard-to-fill positions
  • Recommend, negotiate, and close offers, selling Eight Sleep’s compensation philosophy, culture, unique impact of their role, and what differentiates us from talent competitors
  • Serve as an Eight Sleep ambassador in all facets of your role, delivering a compelling view of our employer brand, as well as a uniquely memorable candidate experience
  • Leverage data to create high-quality reporting systems and derive insights from trends regarding sourcing, candidate quality, time-to-fill and cost-per-hire, etc.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • 3+ years of experience with full-cycle recruiting and a track record of success within technical recruiting (either agency or internal)
  • Experience working internally at an early-stage technology company
  • Excellent sourcing skills and a wealth of resources and tools for vetting candidates’ technical prowess
  • Insatiable curiosity; you keep current on latest engineering trends, frameworks, programming languages, and libraries
  • Experience with educating and selling candidates on equity compensation
  • Excellent communication skills, including active listening abilities and presentation skills; confidence speaking with people of varied experience levels and backgrounds (you're not intimidated when speaking with senior engineers)
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Self-motivation and the ability to navigate ambiguity
  • Tenacity and the drive for continuous improvement
  • Positive attitude, adaptability, and the ability to navigate competing priorities

What's something quirky about your company?

Well we have actual beds in the office. Not nap pods, not lounge chairs, but actual bonafide beds. Getting pulled into "testing" in the middle of the work day really helps when the after-lunch slowdown hits. Even though it's a bit unusual to catch up with your CEO about the product while laying in bed, it can be surprisingly productive!

What's the biggest problem your team is solving?

On the software team, we've recently been working on a "solo sleeper" mode. This mode allows the dual-zone temperature control and biometric sensing to be used across the full length of the bed. "Solo sleeper" mode is our most-requested feature, so it's been exciting to work on a problem that will solve our biggest user need.

What are some things you learned at the company?

Eight Sleep is my first startup experience. In the past I've worked in large companies where processes are regimented and systems are in order. I have learned not to take those things for granted while discovering the true meaning of rolling my sleeves up and getting my hands dirty. It’s enriching. It’s empowering.

How do your team's ideas influence the company's direction?

Every one of our team members uses our products and we encourage sharing feedback. We have a daily stand up that is open to the whole team. There we give a rating to features in beta, we share feature ideas, and we talk about issues being flagged by our members. We've had great ideas emerge from this meeting that are now part of our products.
