Talent Acquisition Lead
The Petal mission
At Petal, we’re using fresh thinking and cutting-edge technology to make credit honest, simple and accessible. We use machine learning to analyze more data in our credit decisions, which means more people qualify, even if they’ve never had credit before. And we use behavioral science and smart, intuitive design to offer a simple, customer-centric product that’s engineered to achieve better financial outcomes, with straightforward terms and no fees whatsoever. The result is an exciting new approach to credit that has the potential to radically expand credit access and improve the lives of millions of consumers, shaking up a trillion dollar industry in the process.
To do this, we’re bringing together exceptional talent from across disciplines and industries to shape the future of financial services and improve the lives of our customers in a meaningful way.
We are seeking an experienced and versatile Talent Acquisition Lead to round out our small-but-mighty team.
Your primary responsibility will be to partner with hiring managers across all aspects of the recruiting funnel; in addition, you may be tasked to lead a range of People initiatives. If you are someone who loves talent acquisition and aspires to have a hand across other aspects of People operations, this is a great opportunity to make a big impact.
Our ideal teammate thrives on finding and matching people’s talents, potential, and personalities to roles; remains strongly connected to those you have placed and feels a sense of ownership in their success and happiness; and quickly gains credibility with all kinds of people.
Key responsibilities
- Partner with hiring managers to drive the full recruiting process, from job spec creation through to offer acceptance. This applies to technical and non-technical roles, with priority emphasis on technical hiring (engineers, data scientists, product roles).
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement a compelling Petal employer brand that showcases our culture and mission, and that attracts diverse, experienced, and capable talent for all of our teams.
- Level up our candidate assessment approach to minimize unconscious bias and homogeneity and to maximize fit with needed skills and experience. This may include refreshing and executing in-house interview training workshops, depending on when you join us.
- Ensure every candidate has an amazing experience throughout the hiring process, from first contact through to start date.
- Proactively maintain a broad and deep network of prospective candidates from which to source.
- Manage all external recruiting vendors, including sourcing platforms, ATS, agencies, etc.
- Track and measure recruiting metrics to pinpoint improvement opportunities.
- Act as an ambassador of the Petal brand and mission in both internal and external interactions.
- Other People initiatives will depend on your profile, interests, and needs of the company.
Characteristics of a successful candidate
- 5-7 years of full-cycle recruiting experience (both tech and non-tech) in a fast-paced environment. In-house startup experience is required.
- Previous implementation of a structured interview process; knowledge of the ins and outs of recruiting and sourcing tools; understanding of modern applicant tracking systems such as Lever or Greenhouse; sourcing across diverse talent pools.
- Multi-tasking across many roles and demands.
- Outstanding communication skills, verbal and written.
- Strong self-management, drive, and organization.
- Flexibility and adaptability under pressure, and a creative approach to solving problems.
- Excellent judgment of people’s motivations, potential, and fit. Knowing what’s needed versus what’s wanted.
- Problem-solving versatility across qualitative and quantitative questions. Humility and a desire to learn/get better every day.
Petal is an equal opportunity employer, and we are committed to building a team culture that celebrates diversity and inclusion. We’re proud to be different, together.
